btw wise my mate who runs did a sub 18 min 5k. he says if i am serious about starting (i always talk the talk) that he would work me up 1k, then 2k etc, run/jog stlye, and then within a few months would aim to have me doing a sub 30 min 5k !

that's why I am keen to take it up ! currently 183cm / 100kg (probably more as not weighed myself in a while !)

I did 2 runs with my mate about 4 months ago trying to take it up, did a 2km (half jog half walk) and my shins and hips were fudged, oh dear !

but your shins and hips aren't 'broken' or wouldn't be like that when you're fit. they just get used to the running eventually and as the body weight drops and the regularity of the running increases you recover way quicker

and you will find that when you're super fit, you can jog 10 miles and next day you'll have no soreness and not much fatigue at all either aslong as you reful yourself right (plenty of calories, get that Papa Johns XL down you)
