Man Utd hadn't scored from a Wayne Rooney corner since 2013. Rooney dropped, thus taken off corners, and they score 3 goals from corners.
|
|
By:
united fan at work was telling me Rooney is best No.10 for United and England still
|
|
By:
Yer those kind of fans are a minority though. I do hear of the odd totally deluded person (there's a few on RedCafe too). People who are like after today you don't know we wouldn't have scored 4 with Rooney too.
Except for the stat I just posted, and the fact Rooney's corners either hit the first or second man, or go over everybody and never find a Man Utd man (which given our height is very disappointing). |

The easy way I think to respond to fans like that Aaron is #10 is maybe the most important player these days in terms of making a team tick. Nearly every top side has a good one, and you can think of games they have changed and won.
Now when was the last time Rooney won or changed a game? There is only 1 game I can think of since the start of last season that he played very well in. He's simply not good enough, and people hide behind bs to try and cover it up, especially TV. TV give such a mixed message, he's a striker, plays up front, looks crap, he's a #10, plays #10, looks crap, gets shoved out wide, Rooney isn't a winger, you aren't playing to his strengths. Then to top it off did you hear on MOTD2 last week they were saying Rooney is now a #4 . |

It annoys me how biased the media are towards English players in terms of refusing to criticise them. It was the same with Steven Gerrard in his last season. At fault for goal after goal for Liverpool, yet was always airbrushed out of the coverage and reports.

By:
The question coming soon will be what does Allardyce do. Because he's already in effect set himself up with his "you have to be playing for your club to be considered for selection". Given Kane won't be available next internationals though Rooney will almost certainly play. But isn't there a big problem shown if Rooney is first choice for England, yet Rashford is playing over him at Man Utd?

I do think those types are getting more and more the minority Aaron. There was a huge shift after last week on Rooney. Last week was the turning point to fans turning on him en masse.
Rooney has huge power in the media too, so it won't be surprising if we start getting dressing room leaks. I was reading the other day how media savvy his agent is, and it's basically just about putting stories into the media they want put out there. It feels the beginning of the end for him at Man Utd though (feels like his last season now). |
