You can statistically prove what you are arguing in that thread which I'm just reading now Edy.
It's pretty easy to prove really. Radwanska started 13/2 to win YEC. Would she ever start anywhere near that price to win a grand slam right now, even without Serena in it (bare in mind Serena was 6s at one point, so not like everyone was going to come massively crashing down from where they were). YEC format is normally stacked in favour of the favourite, though everyone is still more likely to win it than a grand slam. However last year there was no runaway favourite in the draw, which drastically shortened everybody's chances of winning. |
