Talking of IPTL, has there been any investigative journalism written yet on the long term viability of it. Any indications how much money they made/lost last year?

Well I don't go out of my way. But I follow tennis media. It's barely been mentioned at all yet, other than as an off note that x is playing IPTL.
No real buzz has been built for the event as far as I can see. Would like to see some journalist write a piece on it in terms of how it's doing, their long term plan. |

You had eg. Judy Murray Tweet me a few weeks ago talking about how great IPTL is, season needs to be shorter, IPTL is a great replacement. But it doesn't any of the long term questions of is it sustainable, is it any more than a short term gravy train (which is what it looks from the outside).

Also does the TV audience care would be another one, ie. what are its viewing figures.
Obviously will do great numbers at the gate as the field is loaded with ticket sellers. But does anybody care outside the local market that it's taking place in that week. |

A Google search on IPTL revealed this on a sponsor withdrawing from the Indian team.
The newspaper also reported that after the internal assessment, the total loss for Indian Aces in the inaugural season was $3.58 million. From a total budgeted expense of $9,450,000, the Indian Aces' expenditure amounted to $11,325,634. "Inaugural season losses are a feature of every league. In season two, the losses will come down by 3/4th and some will even break even,” den explained. And they won the title, although I am not sure if there was any financial benefit to doing so. Does show you the incredible sums flying about in this event though. $9.45m spread across 7 players. Federer was alleged to have got $4m of that though. |

yeah, mainly that. it's not only flash, can happen with anything, but that's when it happens the most. it's not as muggy at the moment, only happens twice per week and not twice per day.
oh, and I also suspect what I thought was rats/mice behind my wall is my computer making squeaky noises (I should probably delete some VIP pics while I'm at it). |
