A lot of the post-mortems are way off. Murray showed again at Oz Open he can compete at the very top of the game. Too many cheap posts on here, & not enough sensible analysis. Brilliant comeback following back surgery. All those writing him off last year have been proven wrong. He's beaten Djoko in Slam finals before & he is capable of beating him again. If he stays fit no reason he won't be making the Wimbledon and US Open finals this year.

Murray beat Novak at Wimbledon primarily due to very favourable scheduling by the organisers.
He never once had to play in the heat - unlike Novak especially in the semi. |

yeah, obviously, there have to be excuses every time he has beaten Djokovic in a Slam

Not excuses - bottom line is Murray can not sustain top level tennis and outlast Novak.

I'd say it was Murray's side of the draw falling apart which helped him more than any advantageous scheduling. Which is quite possible in any tournament.
This was a big tournament from Murray because it's got him back into the top 4 which gives him more chance of benefiting from something similar again. As it stands Djokovic is a way ahead of the rest but Murray has nothing to fear from the rest of them on this form. At the end of last year it was a million he'd be back to this level so quickly. |

Murray's very best is still not good enough to match Djokovic's best on hard courts and neither is Federer's or Nadal's in the same way Novak's best on Clay will never be better than Nada's best on Clay.
As for Wimbledon 2013 you can look at it two ways, Murray had huge pressure in the build up to the slam with the documentary biggin' it up and it, being a home slam and and losing the final the year before, but also benefited from the fact he had virtually no clay court season in the build up which can take it out of your legs, he retired in rome 1-1 in the R2 (R1 bye) and completely missed the French, whereas Novak won Monte Carlo and went deep at the French before losing in 5 sets. Anyone that has watched him closely over the years knows between the ears he's not as strong as the other 3, an I don't revel in him his losing. |

It has to be said that Murray just falling short of beating Novak has to be seen in the context that when Novak finishes playing he will be up there with the all time greats. Rafa & Roger must be glad that Novak didn't change his diet a few years earlier. |
