I just thought about how a Eurovision audience would vote. And they like to transcend boundaries and be uber progressive and it screamed Austria victory

and ww, I've told you what I read earlier on what the internet things on why Austria had to win. The top reason was to stick it up Russia's arse and because Belarus/Russia/Ukraine supposedly didn't want to show the austrian artist.

As for the greater picture of acceptance, this doesn't do squat for rights. If I understood caramba correctly a few hours ago, a drag artist had already won like two decades ago already.

Will wait until I see how much of this is jury votes and how much is the votes of the people before I respond to this.

It was a landslide victory. Whether it was to annoy those countries.. it is because those countries aren't progressive

Bergkamp, this is the reason nobody take this nonsense seriously, Europe is about 50 years behind the UK and Ireland.

I think Caramba needs to be put on suicide watch

you know ww, in countries with supposed homophobic tendencies, the ones targeted here....a gay man dressing up as a woman, displaying or even exaggerating all the wrong stereotypes a homophobic person already might have.....will NOT help there

I agree. It could infact make things worse and deeper entrench them in their stone age beliefs. But all I was doing was trying to think how a Eurovision audience would vote
