It does show up the ridiculous scheduling of Wimbledon. Women should play their last 16 matches on the middle Sunday, not be asked to play last 16 on the Monday, then qf the following day. A Rad had 2 tough 3-setters vs Pironkova & Li Na, & you could see her body was in a bad way with all the strapping on her legs holding her together.

And while she has a point about 3 setters taking its toll, she only has herself to blame for that. Djoko used to waste his energy by playing 5 sets in the early rounds, and have no energy left in the latter stages of the tournament. Once he stopped doing that, he started to do better in the slams, so she also needs to finish those matches quicker. Tbf she did have tough opponents in r3, r4 and QF but Sabine had an even toucher schedule so that's not a valid excuse really.

she lost not because of strappings
her gamestyle didn't allow her to win |

Lisicki is 'built' for the job, A Rad isn't. She has such a slender frame a punishing schedule is bound to take more toll on her. And she will always have tough 3-setters because she can't blow opponents off the court, but slowly break them down with her guile & all-court game.

It does show up the ridiculous scheduling of Wimbledon. Women should play their last 16 matches ... ------------------ they might play best of one set, instead of best of 3.?? That would make them more comfortable. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Even if Radwanska was tired, that is part of winning tournaments as already explained. It's no different from if you keep playing long matches in any tournament eventually it catches up with you. Part of the journey to the title is pacing yourself and getting through your early matches quickly.

she lost not because of strappings her gamestyle didn't allow her to win true. At least Lisicki showed some power, despite of being off gear sometimes. |
