Or it could have been the same person that backed Rosol at 28ish to win Wimbledon last year.Ignoring the fact it was a hideous price, I really still don't get it especially considering Kohlschrieber was 3 figures and a fave vs Rosol next round

I think outright markets are full of mugs that don't really think, especially at majors. The problem comes from it doesn't take much money back the massive outsiders for the price to drop massively because the layers at those prices tends to only be a couple of people and they cba to take a huge liability. So the popular mugs bets eg. Rosol where everyone is putting 10 or 20 quid on him at any price hammers the price down tremendously. It stems from people are willing to back x player who is flavour of the day at any price just to get their bet on, and don't really care if it's value or not.

More major players operate in match odds markets so that's where you see the true market prices the market thinks people should be.

Same thing happens with eg. Robson who has several 100 backing her at double digit prices, prices which were never value at any point in time. All it would probably take is Robson win her first round match at Wimbledon and her price will come crashing in as everyone piles their 10er on her.

I had better stay out of match odds markets then in case I end up betting against SIR_Bond

At risk of taking your wrath of me taking your comment seriously.

It's just a case of people want their payout in a couple of hours, not tie up 50k for 2 weeks.

In the early days of Betfair, when it was flutter.com, I've heard you could see who matched your bet. Would have been a fun feature to still have today.
