Just wondered if anyone with a good knowledge of sub top 100 tennis could advise if theres any value here (my hope is that bookies are much more prone to pricing a tournament like this compared to an ATP event). The reason i ask is i live local so looking for some interest. Cheers, Here's the prices:

Beck, Andreas     3/1
Berrer, Michael     5/1
Brands, Daniel     9/1
Ignatik, Uladzimir     9/1
Janowicz, Jerzy     10/1
Grigelis, Laurynas     12/1
Huta Galung, Jesse     12/1
Copil, Marius     14/1
Brown, Dustin     16/1
Jouan, Romain     22/1
Lajovic, Dusan     25/1
De Bakker, Thiemo     25/1   ?? (not seeded but in as first alternate, used to be top 40, mispriced?)
Fischer, Martin     25/1
Hernych, Jan     28/1
Torebko, Peter     28/1
De Schepper, Kenny     33/1
Burquier, Gregoire     40/1
Mertens, Yannick     40/1
Mertl, Jan     40/1
Capkovic, Kamil     40/1
Albot, Radu     66/1
Smethurst, Daniel     80/1
Baker, Jamie     80/1
Navarro, Ivan     80/1
Golding, Oliver     100/1
Goodall, Josh     100/1
Oswald, Philipp     100/1
Broady, Liam     200/1

Anything can happen in challengers surely, but I'd always take Berrer in that field, though he has a very tough opener with Huta-Galung. Very very quick low bouncing courts in Bath, didn't Tsonga win this 5 years ago Shocked.

Where's Dan Evans Confused, I'd have liked him in a home event on such courts in such a field, not that I'd bet on this myself.

Dustin served 71 aces in 4 matches last week in Sarajevo...didn't drop serve once...lost to the eventual winner Hernych. He'll give you a good run for your money though 16/1 is a bit skinny...An outsider Peter Torebko...he's just won a futures event in Bath...not sure if it was on the same courts.

The courts aren't so fast for indoor hard. The surface is quite abrasive and balls don't seem to travel through the air as quickly there.

Well I've played on them numerous times and thought they were very fast, compared to other indoor hard courts. Mainly because they've been down a longer than most and not been resurfaced as far as I can remember, so naturally they get quicker and quicker. Lower bouncing than most too.

I've not played there for about 3 years now, but they were slow compared to Queens/Lougborough indoor hard. Balls seem to travel slower through the air too (maybe air is cooler?). They are defo acrylic courts, but don't think they are plexicushion/rebound ace.

There have been a number of futures tournaments there - might be worth looking to see who did well in them.

who knows but apparently he was...

from  The Times earlier this week

"It helps to have friends in influential places. Liam and Naomi Broady, the brother-and-sister pair trying to climb the ranking ladder, have been granted a shove in the right direction, with the awarding of wild cards into a five-star tournament in the United States.

Liam, 18, may only be ranked No 26 in Britain, but he has been invited into the qualifying tournament for the Sony Ericsson Open, that starts in Miami next week. The same is true for big sister Naomi, 21, the fifth-ranked British player at No 192 in the world. These are great opportunities to gain experience and possibly take a shot at a star in the main draw."

He's probably represented by IMG, which more or less runs the Miami tournament. IMG/Bollettieri players usually get a few main draw and qualie wild cards there over players that the general public might consider more deserving.

Umpire saw that a serve went long but didn't overrule it  CrazyCrazy

I saw a similar thing on a clay challenger, serve a good 5 inches long, both players thought it was long, ball mark showed it was long but chair umpire refused to overrule it. Tournament referee was called and told the player it was up to the chair umpire whether to look at the mark.

Mertens should now win here, he was the much better player before he went walkies and then had a strop in the 1st
