Mugio Mugnini clearly underrated so far, rocketed into top3 today
|
|
By:
It was a very, very solid performace from Mugnini today but the entire top 10 division is extremely competitive, and the top 3 remarkably hard to get into.
Take Gasgay right this minute for example, trying to stake a position higher up in the rankings after being about to lose the set now after 5-3 up and 3 SPs wasted. |
|
By:
But along with being Carreno-busted recently a break up in 3rd set his last match, I think he should take Mugrissons spot at number 9 due to Ryans recent inactivity.

WhiteAl gets it
![]() Ryan has done enough extreme mugging at ATP level in the last few months to stay in his spot, but if he does disappear off to the challenger circuit for too long then he will have to be frozen out like Donny the GOAT. Gasquet just broke himself to love after being 40-0 up to consolidate a break, he's earning a lot of mug points here. |

Sorry, I meant just broke himself after being 40-0 up, not 'broke himself to love after being 40-0 up'

I think a case could be made for a #14 spot for Fognini

Simon 0-40 serving for the match, this is why he is the King

Demotion for Mugdasco today after his match against Milos?

Winning close match infront of home crowd for 2nd year in a row can't be good for his ranking here?

I see what you're saying but it's hard to make a case for the people below him moving up, either. I think a little shake up is in order outside of the top 9 (technically top 10 including King Gilles' protected rank #0) but let's see at the end of the week, there is still much big-stage mugging to be done in Madrid I'm sure.

Since there will (almost certainly) not be any activity relevant to this list in tomorrow's match, it's time to do the last MUGS UPDATE.
Despicably, there were murmurings that KING GILLES should lose his top spot after a 'battling' performance against Murray. These forum mugs forgot about His protected ranking of 0, awarded for exceptionally long and distinguished service. The gallantry required to earn such honours should never be so easily forgotten; indeed, and to devalue the achievements of the greatest hero of our time is disgraceful. No entry to the cat thread for anyone who doubted Gilles. GASGAY is the biggest climber this week for his performance against DGT, also reclaiming his superiority over MUGRIN CILIC after being outmugged during their last Mug Shootout. MUGRIN tried hard himself this week in his loss to Pablo 'And you are? I've never heard of you' (tennisguy - newest forum mug). TROICKI and MUGZER lose places by default, they've not been up to much lately. New entrants to the list are the indomitable Birdsh1t for a spectacular performance today. It's a bizarre situation that he hasn't been on this list before, as his ability to bring top mugging to the big stages should really have secured him a spot by now. As a relative newcomer to the list, though, he has to stay in 10th place. Mugbis, conspicuous by his absence from the big stages in recent times, also drops down by default. The biggest faller, however, is STAN 'Inner Core Strength' MUGRINKA, who has been behaving badly for so long now that he has really ceased to deserve his lofty position. There is little danger of him slipping off the list though; he's accumulated a lot of MUGFAIR POINTS in the past, and with the 15% weekly decay rate he won't be losing them all any time soon. MUGIO MUGNINI enters the list on a low ranking, but let's keep watch for more from him. I have trimmed the list down to 0. + 15 ranks, as this really is an exclusive club and we wouldn't want just any old mug getting in. The following three players - Ryan Mugrinkasson, Mugshreiber, Mugnica Bellucci - have been frozen out for now, largely due to inactivity, although if RYAN MUGRINKASSON ever finds his way back to the main ATP level I'm sure he will be back inside the top 10 very quickly, perhaps to assume his father MUGRINKA's place. Climbers Fallers 0. Gilles 'The King' Simon 1. Gael 'The King's Fool' Mugfool 2. Benny Muguire 3. The One Mugnarrrco 4. Mugnando Mugdasco 5. Almugro 6. Gasgay 7. Troicki 8. Mugzer 9. Mugrin Cilic 10. Birdsh1t 11. Ernesto Mugbis 12. Stan Mugrinka 13. Mugio Mugnini 14. Robin Van Nistelrooy 15. HOW MUGNY TIMES |

what i dont understand is...birdshyt is a seed 6 for this tourny...how has he made it onto the mugs list if he made the semi final? surely by going further than what was expected off him means he has overachieved compared to his quality.
|
|
By:
well he beat a jaded murray, but the last 4 games in the third set v wawr, give him quite significant mug points to be honest, so i feel he's deserving of his place.

Basically a lifetime achievement award, though we have to reward short term achievements so that they have an incentive to carry on mugging for us

Don't want the top mugs getting too comfortable
|
|
By:
Gasquet's the one for me, There's lots of other players who annoy me - It not a flame at all but I really think he "can" beat anyone, he's just so consistently disappointing over so many years.
I think skill wise he has the full game, he just cant apply it for more then a game or set. |

djokovic deserves to be in the list too (on behalf of short term disappointment)

you cant be the top seed and go out on your first match of the tourny against an unseeded player and get away with it...SURELY
