i would like to add that not everyone was betting in play and merely let there opening pre match positions run so i think in that instance probably have a right to feel hard done by if they were monitoring the scoreboard and just let the positions run

true bass, but theres was enough proof that something was wrong so a lay at 1.03 to get rid of your red would have been a good idea.

Surely the fac that the scoreboard was wrong helped such people, it at least gave people the chance to trade out Isner at a price somewhat shorter than sp

If it had shown the correct score they would never have got such a chance

In fact shouldn't Levine backers pre match who cut their losses, and of the went 'all red' on the strength of the scoreboard feel harder done by than anyone....

your missing my point

i put a bet on isner pre match but didnt have betfair open was watching some tv instead

however i did have the scoreboard open and was looking at it occasionally and what i thought was isner winning and decided not to green out

then i realise with the ensuing chaos that the scoreboard is screwed up

really i dont see how it benefited me but perhaps i am missing something :D

and no, i am not bitter. ** happens. i will get over the loss and move on.

The point is if the scoreboard was correct you would still have lost, with little or no chance of getting out. The fact it was wrong at least gave you half a chance

As I said Levine pre match backers could have suffered far worse

As a few people have said this was a real tennis match being played somewhere, not a computer game on a scoreboard

after a few days of no televised matches, as can sometimes happen, i find it's quite scary when you suddenly see a real live match you're betting on :0 like wtf? i'm risking my money on this stuf??!??! :^0

i can see where your coming from itfc

one thing i have learnt is the importance of at least taking my stake back from the bet in play when the opportunity arises

i had 300 red on Isner pre match, pretty sure Levine would win it. Switched when i the match 'seemed' to go the complete opposite way and felt lucky to be able to lay off 1.03 @ gsm.

not complaining.

PMSL - what a load of rubbish. Explain yourself.

Milburn just for you because you seem to have trouble understanding english.

Let me break it down for you....

1.) Bet placed well before the start of match on Isner

2.) Betfair not open so not watching odds or forum as felt quite confident of an Isner win (was watching tv instead)

3.) Scoreboard open to monitor progress of match

4.) Game shows Isner winning so did not bother lay off

5.) Check settlement of bet after match and realise the scoreboard was incorrect after reading the chaos on the forum

really it isnt that hard to understand
By:
bass1999
When: 11 Jul 08 19:21
so essentially i let my pre match position run because on the face of it it appeared to be successful
By:
Milburn

So you thought that Isner was winning and decided not to green out? Is that the issue?

Got a letter back from IBIS confirming that this is going to arbitration. Not holding out much hope about it but at least they're taking it seriously.

Read it all thanks. Would like to hear why he feels aggreived.
By:
bass1999
When: 11 Jul 08 19:57
we only found out he was losing after the match had completed

Isner's odds during the match reduced as normal but not quite to the levels one would anticipate so I could have greened out although ultimately the bet would have been resettled as a loser it would at least have mitigated against the loss
By:
spyretto.
When: 11 Jul 08 19:59
you could have greened out a thpousand times, the odds were going the other way because the volume of bets coming for Isner were overwhelming.
Those who didn't were greedy and got a lesson learned.
By:
bass1999
When: 11 Jul 08 20:01
yeah i know spy

i wasnt watching the market, merely the scoreboard

in future i shall keep a closer eye on the market and adjust my position accordingly
By:
Milburn
When: 11 Jul 08 20:23
Isner's odds during the match reduced as normal

Normal for someone losing ?

Does your aggrevation lie in the fact that unwittingly you could have greened out because other people where trading the SB?

You feel aggrieved in hindsight for not being able to green out when the odds were wrong yet during the match when you thought Isner was winning you were happy to let it ride?

You thought that this warranted a complaint to Betfair ? On what grounds ?

Can you see why I am slightly confused with your position on this ?

By:

When: 11 Jul 08 20:28
Milburn I give up with you.

Either you have not read this thread or your iq is in single figures.

Most people did not realise that Isner was losing until the match was over and it had been RESETTLED.

Even betfair got the initial result wrong and settled on Isner then after they received word it was in fact Levine who won they resettled the market.

Betfair have there terms and conditions and they settle the market on the official result even though the stream of data they provided gave the impression the wrong chap was winning.

End of thread imo.
