SPOTY - How they WON -The stories that WILL decide it

Each narrative is widely known in each voting camp but Golf fans seem to think there story is bigger and better, the massive driver of him winning.
We know F1 has a bigger following than Golf and Football dwarfs the pair of them, so the strength of each narrative and how its portrayed on the night will play a big part in vote motivation.

So Rory won the Masters in a dramatic playoff, that's fair enough. Then came the Ryder Cup where Rory and his wife got a fair bit of grief, It might get talked about in his VT. If not most surly in the wider Ryder Cup segment it will.

So yes decent story but its not the only one that the market thinks it is.

Lando had an up down season, leading early and then going behind and finally retaking the lead and winning. Although this was almost derailed by a thousandth of a millimetre 3 races from the season end. With him being disqualified, which meant we would see a dramatic last race shootout.
In the final race which was shown on BBC news last night and will be shown on the night was him being forced off the track by Yuki, with Lando having to overtake and sparks flying off his car dramatically has he reemerged back on the track.
For large parts of the race he was being pressurised from the Ferrari of Leclerc, had he passed this would of seen Lando out of the title race.
We know Oscar would of dropped back to let him through but im pretty sure on the night this won't be mentioned to keep the tension high.
So Lando did hold on verses the other two, winning the title by 2 points, in one of the most exciting finishes to a season in a very long time.

So that takes a bit of gloss off Rory's big story

Onto the Lionesses which now seems like a distant memory but on the night will all come flooding back into the memory banks by swarms of eager fans drooling at reliving this glorious moment once again.
I guess this story has 3 massive story lines to it as its a team sport so needs to be broken down verses the other two stories being individually based.
Plus we don't know for sure which lionesses or lioness will be listed but for the main VT of England winning i think all 3 of these stories will be focused on, but even more so for whoever gets listed obviously in there VT.

Chloe was the super sub who came off the bench in all of the knockout games and played an instrumental part for England to go on and win, pumping crosses in to be scored and scoring a goal from a pen rebound. Then in the final what some might say was fate, she came on early for an injured Lauren James. Only to set up the equalising goal and then score the dramatic final penalty in the shootout.

Hannah played her own instrumental part in goal, having lost the opener. England were struggling and it appeared her 73 yard pass verses Holland was the key moment that set England up for the fight ahead.
The 4 pen saves in the quarters and final are widely talked about and will play a very big part on the night and so should these moments as well

But many of those fateful moments when England stood on the brink of crashing out, only to remain alive, involved Hampton. There was the diving stop to deny Fridolina Rolfo when England were 2-0 down to Sweden in the quarter-finals. The point-blank save from Emma Severini when England were 1-0 down to Italy with just minutes to go in their semi-final.

Now onto the bigger picture of England winning as a team and the remarks of the manager.
At this part i will throw in Lucy Bronze should also play a massive part in this storyline, having played every game with a broken leg. Not quite but im sure on the night they will say it was broken lol

So there we have it, as much as Rory dealt with an over excited American crowd, that story on the night will get massively swallowed up by Lando and even more so by the lionesses own insanely dramatic win.
