https://x.com/chloekelly/status/1950194988576280911From reading the comments under this post, she also has the Reform and EDL vote . No idea what her politics are. I doubt she has any and fairly certain she won't be with them when they try to burn down another refugee hostel, but all helps her vote, I guess

This would be a negative in my eyes then. MSM hate Tommy, and surely the BBC wouldn’t want Kelly to get Reform or even Tommys support.

Once the euphoria has died down and the selectors have to decide which lioness was most important to the success of the team, do the agree with the official lioness fan poll who decided Hannah, or the UEFA judges who decided player of the match was Hannah, or do the pick the woman who couldn't even get in the starting line up

Close call Confused

Do they pick the woman who scored the winning penalty, to retain the trophy, won in 2022, by her extra time goal. Or do they pick someone who has only been in the team for a few months

Not really close call at all. I think Bronze has a stronger case than Hampton

Yeah she scored the winning goal in 2022, but who did they pick for Spoty

The goalie

Poor Hannah was blind till she was 5 and now she's saving penalties.

It's truly a modern day miracle

They picked the goalie in 2023 Laugh 2022 they picked the top goalscorer

Kelly has done it across 3 tournaments. The winning goal in 2022, the winning penalty in the WC quarter finals. Where we saw her iconic hop, skip and whack it in the top corner, penalty style for the 1st time on the big stage

Not just the winning penalty this time, but she set up nearly all of the crucial goals in the quarters, semi final and the one in the final

She's unassailable

We see more of Esme Morgan than Hannah in the Lionesses Proper England promotional video. In contrast Chloe is all over it

I see she's made the team of the tournament. Along with Hampton, Bronze and Russo

A bit bizarre the young player of tournament couldn't make the team?

Mind, she was absolutely honking in the final

Russo the better all round player. She's not really got the credit for scoring the equaliser in the final
Bizarre substitution..and annoying. As she was my biggest green

Cool

That's before the final. So before she set up the equaliser and scored the winning penalty

Before Hampton made her saves too, ofc

Taking a penalty is easy though, you just choose which way your gonna kick it and the rest is down to chance Wink
By:

When: 30 Jul 25 15:47
Bit like saving one then. You just choose which way to dive and hope for the best. With no real pressure on you. Unlike the takers. Many of whom struggle to even hit the target, under the intense pressure

I think all of ours were on target in both shoot-outs. No one Waddle-d it

83% of penalties are converted, Hanna did remarkable to save 2

Statistically a 1 in 1,472 chance of doing so..

One can argue Kelly got the glory moment, but Hampton had the more significant contribution. Then it comes down to how that influences the 'committee'. For me it's closer than the market makes it. To make the eurovision analogy again, it should be akin to the jury making the nomination, rather than the voting public. Who should theoretically be swayed by the technical elements overall rather than the timing of events.

True, still reckon the public will only remember her whacking it in though. It's not like much thought goes into it

Yes Kelly would be strong fav to beat Hampton if both nommed. It's quite a long shot that they both get nominated with the truncated and box ticking format of nominating nowadays, and it's not that clear cut which one rationally deserves it more. Not as clear cut as the market anyway, IF the committee takes a professional viewpoint.

The committee is very populist

See lukey loser, henderson no real right to get a nom, even earps as a loser

I make it pretty close, personally. okay she was 5th in line and had the pressure of the last pen to win, but only got that chance through the keeper stopping two. by the accounts I've read, the keeper played a bigger part on England making the final. So, happenchance Kelly got the opportunity to have the last kick of the tourny, but she embraced it. For me a plausible argument can be made for Hampton to win the nom over Kelly. If buts and maybes but she wouldn't be considered if it hadn't been for that last pen. So the question is, does scoring a single pen in a shootout make you spoty, I guess.

England won the Euros. Her penalty was the highlight and she had done the same in the semi too. It's huge for women's football and they're back to back champions. I'd say that's all there is to it.

You've clearly not watched any of this tournament, or any of the previous ones, cider

I'd put Chloe's chances of being nominated at about 90%

As brushy says, it becomes something of a self fulfilling prophecy. She's favourite to win.The committee will know that. I imagine it would be unprecedented not to nominating the favourite

And even if we stick to just this tournament, she's done far more than just score a penalty.
She was the game changer in the quarter final, semi final and final. Along with Agyemang. Although in her case, not in the final
