I just cannot countenance the bbc allowing or risking this opportunity to pass. Even if Rory was theoretically still in the race, which I don't feel he is.

Kelly is shocking price. BBC was concentrating on Hampton rather than Kelly after the pen shootout. She will get nom in my opinion on that evidence.

absolutely not, but obviously other factors in play then, too. that was in what one might term the transition period. Hamilton struggled multiple times in the event up to when he got over the line.

That's the past too though! I cannot stress how little past form, say before 2020 has relevance to now. This may as well be a completely different event. It's like comparing eurovision before and after the televote was brought in.

In 2012, Sky Sports entered the Formula 1 broadcasting landscape, securing exclusive live broadcasting rights in the UK. The BBC entered into a shared rights agreement with Sky Sports, allowing it to broadcast highlights and select live races each season. This arrangement lasted from 2012 to 2015. Though the BBC no longer had the rights to broadcast every race live, it maintained a significant presence in Formula 1 through its highlights packages and expert analysis. These highlight shows remained popular with fans who did not have access to Sky Sports, as they still offered high-quality coverage of the races. However, budget constraints and the rising costs of Formula 1 rights eventually led to the BBC’s withdrawal from F1 broadcasting altogether at the end of the 2015 season. The rights were subsequently transferred to Channel 4, marking the end of the BBC’s association with live Formula 1 coverage. |

It's not the reach I'm concerned with. My understanding is that a netflix show has created a renewed general interest in F1. However the BBC have no incentive to allow a F1 winner to beat a successful female English footballer, something they have the full rights to broadcast. Plus the voting dynamics are completely different, something I've touched on multiple times. In the past the BBC didn't try to manufacture a preferred outcome, they most certainly do, subsequent to the transition.

It was already touched on, Hamilton 2020. Wasn't that peak blm year? Emma was a lock either way, so irrelevant. I don't recall paying a lot of attention in 2022 or 2023, I seem to recall there has been some controversial non nominations in recent years. Last year I did get involved, and opposed Luke for said reasons. As soon as I saw his vt I knew he was not wanted.

there was some 'sporting moment of the year' carve up at one point along the line. and the nomination process moved from sports writers to some type of committee decision making I believe.
