Bellingham calls mason Greenwood a rapist on pitch in Spain.

One to keep an eye on.

Could be a storm in a tea cup or could take off.

Great Britain's Freya Colbert claimed a stunning gold in the women's 400m medley on the final day of the World Aquatics Championships in Doha.

Colbert, 19, produced a strong final freestyle leg to earn her first global title in four minutes 37.14 seconds.

That came after Max Litchfield took silver in the men's final in 4:10.40.

Britain finished with a total of 18 medals, including four golds, to come fifth in the medal table as attention turns towards the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Colbert delivered the perfect end to GB's championships with her gold, moving past Israel's runner-up Anastasia Gorbenko (4:37.36) - later booed by the crowd as she was being interviewed - and Italy's bronze medallist Sara Franceschi (4:37.86) in the last 100m.

That was Colbert's second medal in Qatar, having been part of GB's silver medal-winning women's 4x200m freestyle quartet.

Great Britain has a new swimming hero ahead of this year's Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Laura Stephens became the country's first individual female gold medalist at the World Aquatic Championships since 2011 by claiming 200m butterfly glory in Doha. The 24-year old says she "can't believe it" and has now set her sights on glory in France later this year.

2 horse race, England will need to win or go very close for Bellingham to beat him, random non sporty people already know Littler, the beeb love him as to the media generally, Bellingham still wouldn't be known to many outside of sport, Littler appeals to people who wouldn't ordinarily be interested in voting and they along with his already large following puts him in a strong position.

The ordinary boy next door vs the footballing superstar.

Josh Kerr broke Steve Cram's 39-year-old British mile record as he beat Jakob Ingebrigtsen at the Diamond League meet in Oregon.

The two rivals were racing against each other for the first time since Kerr shocked the Olympic champion by winning the 1500m at the World Championships last year.

Josh is Scottish, if he wins gold, and England win euros
it could be a different 2 horse race.

Molly Caudery is the only one of the top dozen in the betting that I've never heard of.

So she seems to fit the bill perfectly. Nap bet.

Bellingham more like a spoiled brat, with sulks and shrugging shoulders, than a superstar doesn't do anything to further his case, perhaps the Kardashian undies he is now sporting are a little too tight.

It's an Olympics year. If there's a GB athletics gold medal winner, they'll be favourites, unless England do win the Euros. Hodgkinson, Kerr or Caudery.

Murray won in 2016 after winning Olympic gold, wiggins in 2012, Hoy in 2008,
and Holmes in 2004

I do think the gold was supplemental to murray and wiggins.

Olympic gold was massive back in the day but we
win so many now there is no guarantee.

Fair enough, but outside of the Olympics, we would need a GB winner in some other sport. England win the Euros, sure, but Littler, and in a non BBC sport?

Littler has already transcended the Darts world, housewives and mothers were tuning in to see him in the world final, he's won the Prem league, the Beeb have given him shout outs on their own news channels, they love him.

A gold medal from someone very few have ever heard of can't compete with the Littler phenom, Bellingham would have been a near certainty if England had won but not now.

Cavendish will win the lifetime achievement award.

Littler. Probably so, but, and it's a big but, Team GB will need another rocking Olympics (circa 60+ medals) and an all important athletics gold - and it's on the BBC. Hodgkinson, Kerr or even Caudery. No gold, then yes, I'd accept it is Littler's.
