...Spoty 2024...

Littler not clapping Olympians. That will lose him votes. Silly boy.

Luke not applauding for Chris. Send him to the tower.

Tissues for the pervs

Kelly looks like a moody cow.

Keely

Looks like more hard work than the xbox obsessed 17 year old

assimilate her

You'd struggle to tell the difference.  Runny bot

If he loses I really think that could be pivotal. Whole Littler family not clapping is shocking.

Yee straight after Keely is an odd choice

Poor slot for yee.  Root far better

Sleepy time of the show

runner up, i like that

Bryony or the climber should have been on this instead of Belly

Total waste of a nom

Never seen nom not do a vt if not there. Meant to be an **** and looks like showed it there.

I think there's a fair few that haven't bothered with their vt

Littler gone out full point since clapgate.

lol when is the crash happening?

Littler drifting like a barge without now.....

Storey's vt the best of the night, gotta be good value for T3

Vote closed

Open again

Had her for top 3 for a while tim, agree.

The price is as predicted army!

Yee and Storey finishing strongly in top 3.

vote closes - no added pimpy for Luke

That's his award won then

Unlucky,....

Well done winners

Or lucky,... Depending who you backed

fixed clearly by the beeb

Well done indeed to the winners.

On to 2025

Bad luck army, it was worth it at the odds. No regrets, there's no goodbyes

Well done lovely Keely. Deserved to win all day long.

TBF the beeb helped out the Luke layers too - stopped the vote early before YSP, if that mattered.

Unlucky army it was a great call gonna have to wait a while longer for your 2nd FOTY of the year award.

Keely was my winner in this since she crossed that line (I did post it then around the time, just for aftertime alerters)

She was home and hosed soon as won 800m Stu. Would have been a travesty if Luke ( not even best darts player called Luke) had won because of a campaign rather than extraordinary performance.

Fair play GB, nice bet

The Luke campaign idea was a fair one, but as said above was not about purely sporting excellence, which the voters have chosen on.

Might have to lend Army some of that cash then Brushy. That is if he’s not off to Peru to go into hiding from all the people he’s put away.

Meh, it's been a great contest and people have had months to ponder it, he's a forum great

Shame it’s over. What price is Rory for next year

Lol, i thought i had some better ones than that but they must have been here and i cba to find them.

But not to aftertime too much it was only the side markets that saw me in green overall

Will lando win the title army? :)

Biggest ever win with most ever votes

Be careful laying lando for sure, but i think he'll **** it up again

I agree Tim that her VT was the best of the night, but I didn't think she had any chance of making top 3

Bad luck army.  Middle England wot won it.  She fully deserved it.

No, not to be Jim.

army; great campaigning, always the value call

Watched back the moment the entire audience was clapping terminal ill Sir Chris Hoy and the Olympic athletes. And there are clearly 3 people not clapping on a zoom in…. The Littler family. Very poor and totally disrespectful. Can’t have done his brand any good going forward.

Not sure they knew where they were

It’s not a good look. Calculated ignorance as was threat to “Team Littler”.

Well done winners, the enquiry appears all mine. Combined dynamics could of had a hand, who knows !!

My mate thought Luke got booed when they introduced him. But it’s a golf chant, Luuuuuuuuuke that sounds like boooing, wonder if people took it the wrong way and thought he wasn’t liked, so didn’t bother voting.
Joe Roooooooot had the same, it’s used a lot in sport as a way of cheering them but loads of people wouldn’t know that and see it as a negative.

A terminally ill Hoy then does a big speech and asks audience to clap Olympians.

8 shots of this

1 audience some standing up clapping
2 woman sat clapping
3 Jess Ennis, Kelly holmes, Tani grey clapping
4 shot 1 repeated, with more standing in foreground
5 Jason and Laura Kenny clapping
6 Littler family NOT clapping, everyone else in shot were apart from 1 right behind Luke, that is hard to notice.
7 shot 1 repeated all sat down down still clapping
8 back to Gabby few clapping in background, most not

The chances are the Littlers were clapping but got shown 3/4 the way through and had stopped by then, as did the person behind them, the family was getting regularly shown during the night, so may of been unlucky timing of the director.

All in all it did look bad as another mate noticed it too, Keely was literally on straight after that, so any waiting to see her VT and the rest of them before deciding who to vote for, it wouldn’t of looked good. That combined with the fake booooing would have appeared like two massive negatives for Luke, or more importantly what they thought were massive negatives, that could have affected his vote. Especially with the older viewers.

Luke was also completely marmite with regular dart fans, he didn’t have anywhere near universal support that most thought he had within the sport. I’d say most couldn’t care less, from tracking loads of dart forums and Facebook darts pages.
He obviously had fan pages and fan groups but my guess is, this was mostly made up of casual fans that were new to the dart scene due too Luke making the world final, these fans gradually increasing through the year with his continuing success and media exposure.

His massive support base was that of younger fans, 25 and under, They simply didn’t bother to vote, as they thought he was universally loved by everyone and would easily win, Which clearly wasn’t the case, he needed every vote !!

So those two massive appearing negatives on the night could have definitely cost him winning, along with so called fans not turning up, especially if the vote was close !!!

Oh well hindsight and live events no one can predict all play a part in the wonderful world of specials betting, as it did with Farah. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. See you soon, after 5 months off I better go back to the day job that I love so much, was rather hoping for another 5 months off. Thanks Luke fans !!

The under 25s don't vote on this army, nothing to do with assumptions. It's as far from jungle as you can get .

I thought this clapping thing won't have made a scrap of difference

I thought he had enough obviously, but we're allowed to be wrong

Congrats on a great campaign and what looks like a strong 2nd

The 3 vote thing may have made a difference, we'll never know. Certainly won't have helped

Keely's sister or i think it was her, put up to vote 3 times quite early on. Whether they would of voted 10/20/50/100 like i would and others is unknown, my guess it did hurt him quite a bit.
Also think the clapping did, if my mate noticed it then 100% others did..whether it was 1 vote or 100 that decided not to give him there undecided vote, it counted against him so silly to think otherwise...the shots were so slow enough for people to register it, also its what Hoy said to initiate the clap.

Guaranteed they were clapping, if he was in shot 2 we would of seen it...i went to gran kids christmas do the other day, some bloke sat next to me, always clapped for 5 seconds then stopped between each set that was shown...others clapped for ages.
Was unlucky but fecked him over

Never gonna know the vote but if there was less than 1000 in it, it cost him imo

I've reviewed the footage and do not think the 'Littlers in Black' clapped at all at any stage - look at their faces, not even the hint of a smile - furrowed brow on Daddy Littler as if to say 'feck the Olympians'

Snobs vote every time, so any negative had a dramatic effect. Especially when kids that love him can't be fecked, probably playing darts or xbox shouting down the stairs has he won yet

I thought it was pretty fair.

I wish we got results, but, without them it's pure speculation, but increases my scepticism moving forward.

Bet with renewed scepticism in 2025.

I'd have to agree Jim, when sat with Luke on the sofa he was slouched as if he was on his own sofa watching tv..she didn't look much better.
I thought they came across terribly and thats not making excuses, it was bloody in your face

lol yhtl, stuff like this with live reviews/results have to go to plan. Littlers played it badly, the boooing and clapping my not have been there fault...but sat on the sofa like Jim Royle certainly was a self inflicted negative

Army, hit the nail on the head. Clapgate followed by Keely VT would for certain lose him votes for the undecided. I'm quite surprised it's not been picked up in the media as if we saw it then THEY saw it.

Imagine they are giving benefit of the doubt at this stage and don't want to sour any future collaborations.

The market has been a prick all year but would he of drifted to 8's had he not had 3 massive negatives one after the other ?

Yeah, but what they did wasn't bbc fault, I doubt there were many accidental viewers/voters with most having decided beforehand to view and knew who they were voting for.

Luke just didn't do enough to promote himself, to voting public, despite a valiant
effort.

look at their faces, not even the hint of a smile - furrowed brow on Daddy Littler as if to say 'feck the Olympians'

I'd add to that, while the rest of the audience was clapping and smiling.

4 negatives on the night

Who knows yhtl, i reckon a very large percentage would of already decided 80%++ for sure but you have to win those undecided votes like you have too in any election.
Those negatives were blatant, its as simple as that. It might of only took one of them to put off a potential voter and he had 4

I had one mate complaining to Littler got booooed and another mate complaining he didn't clap a dying national treasure, go figure !!!

me*

I'm sure most votes were in well before clapgate.  Mine were done in 10 times.  Market seemed to think ro mattered

10 minutes

Just think that's much less important than the 3 vote rule

5 negatives then

Before the show he had none and Keely had them all

Brushy, we had been discussing noms for months. Lots of viewers would have waited to watch VT's before voting. Everyone on this thread has a Phd in Spoty noms this year

Thanks for posting all the negatives now army, I'll be sure to remember them retrospectively :)

Somebody always does this bullsh1t after every event, it was my turn today coz i had to make excuses

It will never be remembered either coz we discuss the same sh1t all the time, and you can't account for live feck ups

Lol, fair's fair

I think we just didn't realise how little his face fitted on the bbc basically. And how they've been grooming for female winners for years now. It ain't jungle, it's a very different beast

It's not easy army, but this is effectively the scd audience (ok, a fraction of it) voting on a magazine show, loosely based on sport. It's not Littler's audience, he would have had to have to attracted his fans that wouldn't ordinarily know the show was even on. Which, was always unlikely enough to defeat the golden girl. The market told us that anyway.

I need to have a check of the reported viewing figs anyway.

Sports Personality of the Year 2024- 2.8m

Annoyingly i think she would of won the jungle as well, he's too quiet and wouldn't of been able to do all the trials or been knackered. She would of hosed up in that even easier

The kids didn't vote, otherwise those negatives wouldn't of mattered a jot (sorry JOT lol )
Also old skool dart players didn't give a feck, i was posting on county dart pages for support and they just couldn't care less. Should of took more notice, thinking the country as a whole was enough.

I'm debating with myself whether to take on gavin and stacey at the prices. It's definitely the likeliest winner, but I don't believe the market has priced in the change of habits since it was last broadcast. Doesn't look like a bfex market is forthcoming, alas.

The Chase- 3.1m

The Chase on ITV beat the annual celebration of sport. What used to be, the annual appointment to view. Bet it costs the taxpayers an absolute bundle, too. spoty that is

Summer Olympic year as well. Dire.

Only 200,000 more than last year in an Olympic year is p1ss poor, had they not capped the voting and multi-voting was allowed he would of won imo given the viewing figures. I was planning on 500 myself at £75 and others were too, i was planning a similar campaign post to that of Sinfields buy him a pint which was buy Kev a pint £3 = 20 votes. I was do one saying buy Luke an early christmas £3 = 20 votes. Alas not to be, will never know now

Gav and stacy last ever episode will be very hard to beat, only ever watched it one episode but is there not a massive mystery over some fishing trip ?

A lot of people will view it on catch up. The King tends to be viewed live, and of course there's a lot of interest around the health concerns.

Voter engagement had plummeted on the show also, iirc. BBC needs to move into the 21st century and have app voting.

Wallace & Gromit is a runner as well. Could have been a reasonably interesting exchange market.

Would have been a great market. Pity

I'd like to make one more point then i'm finished with this, why did the SPOTY crowd fake booo Luke ? When this never happens at the darts, must of been some golf goons sat in the audience that thought it was funny.

...it will have been the same ones that opened the show fake booing 'Roooooooooooot' who then also fake booed 'Luuuuuuuuuke'

Luke Donald used to get it at the golf, yeah, takes some getting used to.
