Well done army.  The BBC caved in to the betting market.  I thought and expected Littler to be shorter now that he's nominated, but there's a fair bit of negativity on Twitter and not a whole lot of love.

The are several negatives.

1. Avid darts fans don't think he should be nominated
2. Avid darts fans will be watching the WC on Sky the same night
3. Many people don't regard darts as a sport
4. He'll win Young SPOTY

So what's left?  Mainly casual darts fans who are boozed up young men?  Are they really the type to watch and vote?  Does Littler actually fall into the Anthony Joshua and Ronnie O'Sullivan category in that he appeals to the type of demographic that creates a lot of noise but doesn't tune in and vote?

Having the world champs on at same time is perfect isn't it?

Tom Daley is the type that gets MEMs for this show voting not Littler.  Littler fans are young males

The biggest motivation is does he deserve it?  And the answer to that is no.  I think it's one of those cases where your instinct says Littler will get a big vote, but when you sit back and think about it you think maybe not.

My sons are in their EARLY twenties.  We are darts fans and watch the darts a lot.  They like Littler ofc, but their faves are actually Gary Anderson, Peter Wright and Mensur Suljovic.  They will be watching the darts if they aren't doing anything else and never watch SPOTY

loads of people are already asking how to vote, so obviously will be new to the whole SPOTY process and program

I couldn't advocate laying Littler at 3/1.  I'd be a backer at that price.  But I definitely have my reservations.  GL

I haven't backed Littler and I haven't been persuaded anything different.  2/1 to 5/2 and 2/5 to 1/2 is where I'd place them if I were doing it, with Yee the best rag.  I like to be confident though and I wouldn't be confident at all.  I'd want to see more evidence of Littler love.  I don't think Keely gets a massive vote myself, but think she'll get a big enough vote.

Well done Army, now he has made the list I'm keen enough on his chances, I do feel a little sorry for keely, she has gone from being red hot fav to a 50/50 now imo.

Cav was about the right price even if nommed. I'd have backed him if lukey hadn't been nommed tbf

When Phil Taylor came 2nd in a stronger year than this, there was recognition within darts that he hadn't been recognised for his outstanding achievements and darts had not been recognised. I don't think there's the same motivation this year myself, but this a Little(r) different so I may well be wrong.

Well done army.

I wonder how much you swayed the panel,.. Maybe not
but who knows.

Now he just needs to win it.

Guessing Root and Bellingham cancel each other
and fight for third

Or the invisible girl bombs and they fight for second
behind Charles de Batz de Castelmore

Fair play to the Lukey backers, you've jumped the first big hurdle for this, and should be in an easy green position at least.

Whether he still beats our Keely is still in question though. I think market has it about right currently, he's a clear challenger, but I still make her clear favourite.

One price I don't get is Storey drifting so much for top 3 - surely she's beeb pimp material as a disabled athlete not mention a massive lifetime and current year achiever for her sport?

But the market thinks she'll finish no-where?

Even the guardian lead with lukey, with a bit of a whinge about cav

She's definitely a contender for it stu, i couldn't rule out any of the 4 tbh

odd that she drifted so hard after being on the shortlist?
