you'd have to think the majority of that audience felt so sorry for Kerr and Alfie by the end of it
By:
audience in the studio i mean, sporting ones
By:
Careful now, cowell will offer to do it and they'll have to do a little entertainment routine too
By:
best thing that can happen is a break away from the bbc, its actually a good idea for someone to to pick up on it
By:
They have ruined the programme without doubt. Earps, Broad then KJT was almost pre determined before the show with the outside chance of Alfie rallying like a king on the night. I don't think he was even that close to KJT despite her being on first. Would be good to see the votes.

By:
We shouldn't complain though. Very easy money for us. Broady was pushed out to 2.8 w/o at one stage ! When he was probably about 1.1 for it !

Would be good to see the votes.
Another thing the beeb have been awful at - why anyone would bother to vote when they give 0 information afterwards, beggars belief to me. Though it was maybe something like: Earps 956 votes Broad 500 3rd 350 Alfie 300 |

Fwankie - 92

..and I'd guess Rory 91

It's turned into a daily magazine show for sport. Essentially another This Morning, Lorraine or Lose Women. So it's no surprise if someone they would gush over should win it. I guess Mo was the initial pointer to that, never got anywhere through his amazing achievements, but wins due to his kids playing up, humanising him. And that's not anti women before the white knights pop up, it just reflects the direction that the bbc want their interpretation of 'sport' to go in. Much like the rest of their modern day output.

It is being feminised I agree cider - that's why more masculine sports like Rugby and Boxing are barely getting a squeak at it these days.
By:
In a nut shell, sports nuts aren't voting in numbers, as the audience has changed. The audience was probably more interested in Broad's WAG than his Ashes exploits!
By:
We've had an undisputed Heavyweight world boxing champion for years, but barely managed a look in at this competition.
By:
Undefeated I should say.
By:
Cultural as well, isn't it. I grew up knowing boxers as household names. My family doing their absolute nut when barry mcguigan won. Millions of people watching Davis / Taylor into the early hours. The Derby had enormous audiences on a weekday. We've slowly been weened off sport essentially, just as we have comedy. Only football remains central, but that is being chipped away too, putting in on a minor channel.

Said he wasn't interested and told people not to vote for him tbf

By:
Did she feature in it at all? I'm guessing they would not resist making her a part of it. At the very least, placed very prominently in the live audience.

By:
He has at times not helped with his attitude to it, I suppose yes. Though hardly surprising, to have that attitude to it.
By:
The wider culture of sport has certainly changed, I'd agree with that too.
By:
Not sure i agree, they've nommed a fair few boxers. Fewer recently as there's been less success. Fury just not interested
I had a great win on that welsh bloke :) |

Barry calzone

By:
Boxers aren't generally household names now, and yes that can certainly be part explained by it being behind a pay wall for most people.
By:
That was fair few years back now though GB - think it's amazing how quick things have changed in sport perceptions, at least for Beeb and their viewers.
By:
There's lots of factors at play, not that I can pinpoint them all! That are working towards making the working man's life rather insipid. The obliteration of sport is certainly one of them, and the hollowing out of spoty is a reflection of that.

Feminisation is a wider trend for sure - sport, in some representations, seems to be one of the outcomes of that.
By:
They'll be scared to ever nom anyone from the other fighting genres. That unpronounceable guy won the overseas vote a few years ago
By:
About only event that bucked the above trend recent was IAC - 3 men voted into the final over all the women!
By:
lol this has turned into the Andrew Tate fan club thread

Stu is all polite all year, then the baileys comes out for xmas and his hormone levels go through the roof!

By:
It's only part of it, Fig. The BBC has the resources to have ftv sport, the big events. It's just not part of their agenda. It wouldn't surprise me even if the Olympics was abandoned.
By:
Probably a trend that will die away but it's been great taking money off these mug male punters who think girls are rubbish :)
By:
The BBC can't possibly compete with the sky money. The Olympics and the big footie tournaments is all they have left. And only because there's legislation to protect them.
By:
There's plenty of sporting heroines to choose from. Not about that is it. I genuinely know nothing of the detail, but what I heard in passing is that Earps became a big name over some nonsense about replica shirts. I have no idea if that's why she was a deserved winner. As you usually have to be a Ben Stokes to win the thing being part of a team effort.

Plus MOTD, until the right wing snowflakes succeed in cancelling Lineaker

By:
ITV has racing, BT Sport has football, I think C5 (or C4) has international football? Maybe the central prem contract is the only product genuinely out of their reach.
By:
Ah yes I think they still have wimbledon. for now.
By:
lol GB - I've always been the same, you must not have noticed.

BTW I backed Earp win (for small profit) and lost by backing Josie in IAC, so I don't back in line with my own views on gender campaigning.

Dinnar stu, you are normally pretty well housetrained. No wonder your missus goes to stay with her sister ;-)
