These days a song can get high up iTunes as it is used on a dance in SCD. Team Romford was number 1 the other day.

i guess whoever is playing the market has more clues than us to what might happen regarding any serious campaign, or is he really naive and just counting on the death being enough to win him this bet.

Some people knew the real story with his health. Fair play. Obvious they would be smashed in on the announcement, so easy money if itk.

It should be top of iTunes by now though, if it had a real shot. And doing a multiple of the 2nd placer.

early day but does look like there will be one or many, set up by various fans etc...unless there is an organised one its gonna be very haphazard

Guaranteed that someone will get behind this with a concerted campaign in the last week, I'd have thought - either Chris Evans or Chris Moyles would be my guess. Shane's birthday would have been on Christmas Day, so it would be a very fitting tribute.  And it wouldn't take many downloads to get this one over the line, such is the weak state of the charts.

circa 20-30K downloads it would take, based on a similar streaming level to 2022.

Certainly cannot entirely rule out a successful campaign. It's just not immediately obvious to me how it is leveraged. Most people will have moved on by then, in fact they will have moved on by tomorrow.

I can only see it weaken in that market as the news dissipates into something else, and sales inevitably drop off. Then there is a lot of hope pinned on dramatic download activity from the Friday.

Wham (and Mariah) are still tracking way ahead of 2022 (as is much of the Xmas march up the charts), so it's not entirely clear where that is headed yet. They should at least match 2022, and quite possibly top it.

Army I doubt the date of the funeral will have an impact, in Ireland body's get put in the ground in the 1st 3 to 4 days.

Quite a few on twitter looking to make it Xmas no 1.

No organiser, but lots seem up for it.

My gut is the backers at 2.6 got on the right end of things but the backers at 1.3 got a very poor deal, there was an Irish radio station on in work, Shane only got mentioned after Alistair Darling, and when they went back to playing songs not one pogues song was played.

It can be rough estimated, as Jack got 1,757 downloads lw across all platforms, and his sales are pretty level. Say 200 daily on iT. #1 Pogues is doing just over 2x, maybe more when it updates. So you could put it on approximately 500.

Do we see Pogues selling more in 15 days' time than today ? I feel like today will be the peak.

If a campaign is organised for the correct time it could happen tbf
By:
GeorgeBrush
When: 30 Nov 23 18:52
And it could take a leap in streaming preferences

I think this weekend could be a peak. (the peak, prob not)

They may need to up it to become Xmas no1

Xtra airplay for pogues likely boosts quite
a few Xmas songs, noddy holder loves Christmas.

A cleaned up version of this might do it

Well logical a peak this weekend, but the purpose of a campaign would be a large peak later on

Yes it will get additional streams today, absolutely certain. Everyone knows the song, even kids. So I don't anticipate a significantly sustained increase.

We can see apple streaming live fwiw. It has climbed 4 places to 5, now sitting just behind Shakin'
