Reckon Friends of Jo Cox will get a big push when it is released next week. Emotion mixed with Christmas spirit and goodwill is a powerful combination.

In this sales climate, you really need someone behind the campaign pushing hard, with lots media appearances and heavy sm presence.

FOJC seems to totally lack for this, unless it's passed me by.

FOJC, it's not a stand out charity imo(there are many competing for N.1) or much of a xmas song, no campaign
if you search youtube you get nothing, on facebook you get the song and a few posts with about ten like each

Massive move on FOJC in the last 24 hrs. I've missed the bigger price but managed to get a fair bit done at 2.39. No doubt the BBC will give this a big push over the next week so maybe backing at 2.39 could be value.

There probably isn't a great correlation between people who download music and interest in politics.  No YT video, the politicians have serious day jobs to occupy them, so you are taking a stab that from nowhere, the song can suddenly gain huge interest. 

I listened to Prime Ministers Questions live on the radio yesterday which piqued my interest when FOJC was 3/1, but I could find nothing to give me any confidence to persuade me to back it.  Not a market I've bet on for several years but I've dutched a small interest on Clean Bandit and The RagNBone Man hoping that the potential challengers are hot air and don't amount to much.

Think about it, why would those 3 make a song for charity and then not bother to promote it?

Just another political balls up.  It strikes me as a campaign where no one is really bothered and hoping that someone else will run with it.

Sorry, whizz, I`m with mach and CB. Charity singles are fantastic, IF the charitable cause pulls at the heartstrings of the nation`s housewives. May sound callous, but I suspect half the chav MEMs have barely an idea who Jo Cox was, and the Defence of Democracy isn`t something that will inspire them. Last year perhaps the most easily identifiable cauee of all, the NHS only just got home in the end, and that was with 1.7 million staff, Chris Evans, and even their main rial, Bieber, telling his fans to help the NHS get the Christmas No1 spot. None of this is happening yet for FoJC, the campaign might get going tomorrow, but I`m doubting the cause is resonant enough with buyers. My humble (and unsolicited!)advice? Take a small profit now, plenty of time to get back on it at bigger prices if so inclined. Max red, for me.

If the push doesn't come tomorrow then it's a very poor show indeed trying to promote charity especially with Wilson and the PMs involved. I'm happy to hold out as I can't see much else in the race.

For what it's worth i think Bradley Lowrie campaign will really take off. 8/1 earlier on with one online firm has been steadily shortening on here will only require one high profile celebrity to get behind this one and it will be all over!

Clean Bandit streamed 4,098 sales on Spotify yesterday.  Then add Deezer, however popular that is. (another 20% of that?) RNBM streamed 1,771.  Hospice will be near zero if not zero and Inspiral Carpets isn't in the top 200, both will be doing well to be top 20 as will that FOJC monstrosity.  The charity kid looks like he won't even be top 40.  Looks to me like Little Mix and Mariah Carey might end up 3 and 4.  If the Bandits are beating their nearest challengers by about 40% after 3 days on my guesstimate that's tough to turn round, even with the benefit of The Rag N Bone Man's track being on SPOTY last night.  By my guesstimate he's got an extra 500 download sales on the night from that, but he's losing 2,500 sales a day to the Bandits on streaming at the moment.  If he gains 20% on streams like he has done on downloads that 2,500 only comes down to 2,000 so he'd still be approx. 1,500 down on the Bandits a day, and he already must be quite a bit behind.

Nobody was going to stream a charity single.....was obvious was always going to be a long time streamer for the number 1 in this case Clean Bandit, with probably the most summery style Xmas number 1 there has been.

It's good for a decent record to be number 1 for the first time since 2003.  For any old timers, what a market that was!  At that time was easily the biggest win I ever had and then a few months later I got a nice Brucie bonus thanks to IBAS.  .  That market prolly achieved more turnover than every xmas no 1 combined since.  The top 3 market alone possibly hit close to six figures!

My other memory was RATM in 2009.  I had a decent bet on that, but with 2 days to go I thought the figures suggested it had almost no chance and closed out for a loss.  Was sick as a dog when I found out they'd won.  Had tipped a couple of people to back it beforehand and they were thanking me just to rub it in.   Never got involved in the market again in any serious way.

2005 I was tipped up the JCB song by Nizlopi.  Saw the video and just loved it.  I had a decent investment at 16/1.  At that time it was unclear if XF was going to launch a xmas song.  We'd looked at the dates and it looked like the final would be too late.  Recall you could back it at 3/1! at some point.  They ended up releasing the song on the Wednesday and Shayne Ward sold someat like 700,000 copies in 4 days!!  JCB song was a clear second.

Another one of my old gambling stories.  October 2005 I was given a free £10 Exacta bet on The Cesarewitch by the Tote, which was nice considering it was a restricted account that I'd virtually stopped using. I stuck in on Contact Dancer who was about a 20/1-25/1 shot on morning prices to beat Mr Ed who was about 10/1.  When it won I thought I might get close to 300/1, as I thought a relative outsider to beat a fave might get a decent divided, albeit that Mr Ed was a very consistent horse that always seemed to get placed.  Almost felt like a loss when it paid 130/1 (from memory). 

About 2/3 weeks later had probably my biggest ever losing day.  I was trading this horse when I got a phone call, and I got chatting away and forgot all about the trade and then suddenly noticed I'd just lost a grand.  It put me on tilt and I started chasing.  There as an 8/9 runner race on soon after that very much had an ew feel about it, although actually wasn't really an ew thieving race, but I'd lost my composure so I backed 3 of them each way.  The race was won by about 6 lengths by the 66/1 rag Orcadian and none of my bets even placed, so I smashed into a favourite somewhere that got stuffed, before eventually regaining my composure.  That evening was the very first XF and having regained my composure I was on Roberta to be first evicted who was approximately a 10/1 poke on here.  Then, because I think it involved a sing off, rather than just a public vote like Pop Idol, my winnings were voided.  What a shocker!

I used to do those type of tote bets years ago.... hoping for huge odds.
I also had my worst ever day through a trade I forgot about and then just chased my money with no real plan and within an hour had lost about £8k..... first bet only cost me 400 as well. Luckily I couldnt get more money into my account or it might have been a lot worse.

someone posted that Clean Bandit are on 29k on Buzzjack Mr Ed which makes sense.  That'll be 4 days downloads and 3 days streams.  The Official charts indicated it's downloads are approximately £3k a day so that's 12k of that 29k, which indicates that it's streaming 5.5k a day. 8.5k a day is 59.5k projection for the week, but I imagine more songs are streamed and downloaded at weekends so that's probably a bit high so my guess would be 58k...55k at worst.  That also indicates that streams outside of Spotify like Deezer account for something like another 35% of streaming sales.  Rag N bone Man must be in the region of 8k down on CB once you add on an extra days streaming 

The Dave Clark 5 song is a Rangers fc football chant for their striker Joe Garner.  I'm very surprised it's doing so well from nowhere considering other similar campaign and charity efforts have done so badly, but even though it's done so well it still needs to do substantially better

Yeah Gary Jules.  There as a problem with the naming of the act, It wasn't quite exact enough for Betfairs' liking so they voided early bets and reintroduced it.  Personally, I never appealed to IBAS and thought nothing more about it, but someone did, and I found myself £900 richer several months later.

In other news George Michael died today.  Had he died a few days earlier, we might have been looking at Wham's Last Xmas as this years Xmas No. 1
