With the pivotal XF weekend upon us, who’s in the running for Christmas Number One?

Will another charity single triumph? Return to form for the XF? A current chart star? A randomer like Cruz Beckham?

Take a look at the existing runners & riders here:

Reckon Friends of Jo Cox will get a big push when it is released next week. Emotion mixed with Christmas spirit and goodwill is a powerful combination.

Talking of emotion and Christmas spirit I cry every Christmas after downing a bottle of vodka, while asking myself why I'm still alone.

In this sales climate, you really need someone behind the campaign pushing hard, with lots media appearances and heavy sm presence.

FOJC seems to totally lack for this, unless it's passed me by.

FOJC, it's not a stand out charity imo(there are many competing for N.1) or much of a xmas song, no campaign
if you search youtube you get nothing, on facebook you get the song and a few posts with about ten like each

Daily Mail has done an article on FoJC
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-4026592/VAT-raised-Jo-Cox-charity-single-donated-foundation.html

Clicked on the link for the twitter page and it had 14 followers Cry

The BBC are a Friend of Jo Cox:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-38293156

Wonder if they'll push it on Radio 2. Looking at the other contenders and how they are downloading/streaming I think FOJC could do it even with a late and average campaign.

When you factor in the mighty trio of David gray, KT Tunstall and Ricky Wilson it becomes apparent that this is over! Everyone else is TOAST! Merry Christmas you filthy animals, enjoy your Bernard Matthews turkey dinosaurs!

I would be very surprised if it makes top 10 in the chart

I'm sorry that I can't invite you to xmas dinner Tom, I have been unable to source any bernard matthews  turkey products for the event
probably best for you, I have a temper and always feel the need to stab someone when they say retarded sh1t Blush I think it could be passed off as a altruistic act for the benefit of mankindCool

LaughLaughLaugh Massive move on FOJC in the last 24 hrs. I've missed the bigger price but managed to get a fair bit done at 2.39. No doubt the BBC will give this a big push over the next week so maybe backing at 2.39 could be value.

the only thing that the FOJC single has going for it, is none of the other songs have any momentum
the problem is the FOJC single has even less interest from the public and no momentum what so ever.

Very strange why Ricky, KT and Gray have not promoted the single on any of their twitter pages????
Why, because they will push the fck out of it once released it give it its best chance of selling in numbers.
Ricky also works for Xfm which will also boost sales for sure and the BBC will not want the X factor song at No1.

ok, I guess you could take a little better than even money betting on something that there is no evidence is going to happen in the hope that it does, and then is successful Plain

There probably isn't a great correlation between people who download music and interest in politics.  No YT video, the politicians have serious day jobs to occupy them, so you are taking a stab that from nowhere, the song can suddenly gain huge interest.

I listened to Prime Ministers Questions live on the radio yesterday which piqued my interest when FOJC was 3/1, but I could find nothing to give me any confidence to persuade me to back it.  Not a market I've bet on for several years but I've dutched a small interest on Clean Bandit and The RagNBone Man hoping that the potential challengers are hot air and don't amount to much.

Think about it, why would those 3 make a song for charity and then not bother to promote it?
By:

Just another political balls up.  It strikes me as a campaign where no one is really bothered and hoping that someone else will run with it.

Sorry, whizz, I`m with mach and CB. Charity singles are fantastic, IF the charitable cause pulls at the heartstrings of the nation`s housewives. May sound callous, but I suspect half the chav MEMs have barely an idea who Jo Cox was, and the Defence of Democracy isn`t something that will inspire them. Last year perhaps the most easily identifiable cauee of all, the NHS only just got home in the end, and that was with 1.7 million staff, Chris Evans, and even their main rial, Bieber, telling his fans to help the NHS get the Christmas No1 spot. None of this is happening yet for FoJC, the campaign might get going tomorrow, but I`m doubting the cause is resonant enough with buyers. My humble (and unsolicited!)advice? Take a small profit now, plenty of time to get back on it at bigger prices if so inclined. Max red, for me.

If the push doesn't come tomorrow then it's a very poor show indeed trying to promote charity especially with Wilson and the PMs involved. I'm happy to hold out as I can't see much else in the race.

mach, that turkey bear looks delicious, I recommend bearcub to poached it in a water bath overnight then deep fry it for 10 minutes to make all that lovely skin nice and crispy.

FoJC odds on? The real war hasn`t even started until tomorrow, and we don`t even know if they`re really going to be in the game at all, let alone be a front runner. Laid a bit at 1.9, madness.

For what it's worth i think Bradley Lowrie campaign will really take off. 8/1 earlier on with one online firm has been steadily shortening on here will only require one high profile celebrity to get behind this one and it will be all over!
