Sorry, being very inefficient and not been around for all of the announcements.
On paper, fewer obvious duffers but I assume they will become apparent once on the dance floor. Also on paper, looks a disappointing line up - hardly anyone I really look forward to seeing but once again no doubt that will come once we see the pairings and see them perform. |

By:
Thanks Bears. I wondered where no 12 was.
It looks like Lesley Joseph could be one of the final three. Any ideas who the others might be? |
|
By:
Might be rubbish but found this on DS
Judge Rinder Lesley Joseph Greg Rutherford Tameka Empson (they need an Eastender) |

I trust we`re all max red on this favourite? We don`t know if she can dance, we don`t know if she`s likeable, we don`t know if she can appeal to MEMs. but we do know she`s going to look pretty strange with her partner being at least a foot taller than her!
We like false favs in Specials, and this one`s the biggest pre-series max red that I can remember. |
|
By:
How tall are the new male dancers? maybe they have a short arse among them
|
|
By:
(speaking as a short arse myself)
|
|
By:
Should also add that Fragapane is really young and that's never the most interesting story (or 'journey') and often makes the more romantic and adult dancing seem lacking in chemistry. She'll surely be there for a long time though so wont her price come in a little bit?
|
|
By:
Anyone have an opinion on Robert Rinder? They used to advertise his show with him dancing a tango and he is known to be very fit so can probably do some of the more high stamina routines. Could he be surprise value?
|
|
By:
fraggy likely to be almost one foot six shorter than her partner
|
|
By:
|
|
By:
Rinder ran the London marathon in just over 3 hours. Probably an exhibitionist and has a fast, forked tongue. There's probably worse bets around but seems an unlikely winner.

I think he will be a audience fav, I really like the guy.

Vincent Simeone is 5 foot 7. Seem to remember him being ribbed as the shortest, so we`ll use him as our benchmark. Are any of the new male pros shorter than that? Don`t know gor sure, but unlikely. She`s 4 foot 6, so that`s a 13 inch difference. What can she dance in? Say, 3-inch heels? Still 10 inches between them, but that`s without shoes for the male, bringing us back to an 11-inch difference, even if one of the new pros are 5 foot 7. It just can`t look good, and dancing`s all about looking good. At this stage, a massive lay.
(For the benefit of our younger readers, that `11 inches` is about 28cm.) |

I've been looking through the Digital Spy Strictly thread and there seems to be a lot of love for Greg Rutherford. I'm a little puzzled by this as he didn't seem to go down well in the run up to the sports personality of the year award last year. But then again he will surely be better than Iwan Thomas..

sorry if it's a dumb question but can someone explain the scoring in this for me please. the judges score which will give a ranking from 1st - 15th, is this then combined with the ranking of the public vote again ranked 1 - 15? is it any different in the final?
thank you. |
|
By:
i understand the judges decide after the dance off from the bottom two i am not sure how they get to rankings before this.
|
|
By:
Not writing out 15 names, so here`s a four runner example;
`A` scores 31 (four judges scoring from 1-10, then added together),and is top of the judges leaderboard with 4 points `B` scores 30, 3 points `C` scores 29, 2 points `D` scores 28, 1 point. Phone vote gives `B` the most votes, so 4 points for that, a total of 7 `C` gets second-most votes, 3 points, total 5 `A` third in votes, 2 points, total 6 `D` Bottom in votes, 1 point, total 2 So, `C` and `D` would be in the dance-off, judges choosing who to save. In the final, the judges will score the dances `for guidance only`; the public vote is all that counts. |

I was surprised that Anastasia only has 86K twitter followers. She was big 2000-2005. Maybe not done much since.
|
|
By:
henry i was surprised at that too, she has had terrible health issues (including breast cancer twice) which may explain why she was quiet for such a long time. i did see an interview where she said some of her reconstructive surgery may mean she struggles with her body on some of the dances.
when looking at the competitors i thought she was well over priced as she started out as a dancer. unfortunately i have been faffing about for a few days and the 50s have gone, lpm 34. maybe one of the more informed forumites could tell me if i am being a clueless guesser as usual but i see potential as a competitor on a journey, winning may be out of touch but her story is an amazing one and tgbp will surely be receptive to someone who remains so positive despite all the adversity she has been through. i hope she gets a decent partner. i'm just about to watch the red carpet through the red button ![]() |

Jolly having read about all her medical problems I admire that she's been through a lot and come out smiling. However she did allude to her hospital stays even in her first short SCD interview below. If she needs to mention it a lot she's going to irritate.
Short interview with all the celebs: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p04404rm/strictly-come-dancing-series-14-meet-the-celebrities Launch show 6.50 - 8.15pm Sat 3 Sep. |

By:
i've just watched that henry and i think you may well be right.
she is nearly a decade older than the oldest female winner too. |
|
By:
despite the not so juicy odds i'm backing Will Young at this early stage, he ticks a lot of boxes, he can definitely dance and he has a loyal fan base. I'm not sure how naturally talented he is but he has ability and is a perfectionist by nature. I like perfectionists, it is a quality that defines winners.
I like Louise Redknapp too, reckon she'll be a dark horse. |
|
By:
I thought Will young was ok at the start of his career, now I think he looks far too smug.
Louise is too short imo, she looks like she has hit the wall and aged badly, sorry fan boys. ![]() I like dwarfy now she has drifted, only green so far, I love the Whitmore, she has no dance experience, could be a journey runner, plenty short right now. Danny @12.5 and Greg @30 would be a fair dutch. |
|
By:
looks like they have dug out Jelly Wallace's frumpy wardrobe for Louise too.
Nothing wrong with being short tho |
