Wow! It's a pile of rubbish. Though I hear they're maybe going to change the song

I have this feeling that Ira Losco for Malta is going to be another Charlotte Perelli where Charlotte won for Sweden in 1999 and then she came back again for Sweden a few years later with the song Hero which won the OGAE fan poll that year but then flopped on Final night. Ira Losco came second for Malta a few years ago but i feel that this time round she is not going to do well with this song this year.

EBU approves Never Alone for Danish final – and the Eurovision Song Contest: http://www.eurovisionary.com/ebu-approves-never-alone-danish-final-eurovision-song-contest/
I find that this song has a striking resemblance to Only Teardrops which will surely get the fanboys into a frenzy. |

Happy to take full advantage of the wonderful people on here, yet who think themselves above posting ONE single post to show even the slightest appreciation. Is that YOU??? Anyone not voting for their winner of the ultimate accolade will be treated with much contempt, and will INSTANTLY rule themselves ineligible for ANY future FOTY awards. EVER!!! Lurkers and irregulars, I`m talking to YOU as well. As previously established: Voters = Decent humans Non-voters = SELFISH AND UNGRATEFUL BAST@RDS So, which are YOU??? VOTE NOW!!!! NO EXCUSES!!! |

It's about time they banned this foreign jury nonsense for national contests

Why? No foreign juries no Loreen

...in fact I wish every country did it

Because they're national contests

And those countries that take it seriously like Sweden do whatever it takes to get an edge...their success rate shows the end justifies the means. As a punter I'd have thought you'd have welcomed the edge it gives us....last year's winner for example. Of course as an ESC fan I accept you can want to keep it pure. I'll take the edge though.

The organisers in Sweden who are running the actual ESC contest this year have said that they want to change the voting system this year. I don't know what plans they have or how they are going to change it but perhaps they could do away with the algorithm that they use for the Jury voting that they then use for the country voting order on the Saturday night. We all know that the country who is in the lead say 10 countries from the start isn't going to be the winner as the winner of the contest is held back from being in the lead for as long as it can. I suggest that the country pull lots to choose the country voting order so to make it a bit more exciting as to who the winner will be.

|
By:
Do you have a link to that story, Corby? When you say, 'change the voting system', that is set in stone in the EBU's competition rules which are already drafted up.
|
|
By:
Here is a link i found regarding "SVT want to change the voting; but how?": http://tinyurl.com/gtvae4d
It mentions that SVT want to change the way the voting is given to make it more exciting. whatever changes SVT want to make will need to be discussed with the EBU and then cleared first by the EBU. It may be too late to implement any changes to take place for this year as i would guess that such changes would have to be discussed with the other countries and should the majority agree to changes then it could be decided to implement the change starting with next year 2017 or 2018 rather than this year. |
|
By:
Thanks Corby. I thought you meant the way countries award their votes and how this is transferred into points on the scoreboard. Didn't realize you meant the announcement at the end of the final. Thanks for clarification.

Her performance is on MelFest is here: https://youtu.be/mdsPuza2blo |

Thanks Corby. Anything of note as yet unselected, in the coming nationals?
Just had a long chat with someone about ESC, got me into it, looking forward to watching all the selections. |

Cheers for all the updates Corby. Spain my personal favourite of those so far. I love the energy she brings to the stage. Not really a realistic contender though
There's plenty of info out there about the likely national picks H. None of those I've heard scream winner to me, but there's clearly a few which are likely to be popular with fans and punters |
