Eaxactly, how pathetic and sad it is when just cos hes a fireman and has a small child women vote in their droves no matter how his VOICE is, nothong wrong with women voting i drives for a fireman but this is suposed to be about the voice so these sad women ust have got so jealous at Lucys awesome classical singing that they made sure she didnt win, most of these women that voted would have been thickand chavs, most single with no hope in their lives except "fatasizing" and reality shows gives them that

oh well thats what ou get when relying on women to vote for the "real voice", i am seething!

Lucy was not only Beautiful but also a Class Classical singer

Can't see it being cancelled next year given they were asking for people to audition. Odd that the Final got lowest viewing figures of the series according to Mirror. Still it got 6.3m average only a bit less than last year plus a higher % of audience share than last year's final.

Will complaining that twitter white noise didn't translate into votes is somewhat ironic coming from King Tweet. In the cold light of day it just looks like Lucy didn't do quite enough to motivate MEMs to pick up the phone...a woman needs to be blind or dowdy to have that effect it seems.

I suspect that there's a few people on the board that also wishes Twitter was a reliable guide to actual voting Wink

The most irritating thing is moaning about the winner after asking people to vote for their favourite. Isn't that the whole point of a PV? The producers already exert too much control over the result on these things.

FWIW the Lucy bet was settled at full place odds. Cheers chaps.

Not sure that's true given the strictly results
Some poor song choices imo
No Surprises great for twitter and us on here but some dirge from Westlife, like You Raise me up, would have got her more votes. Plus a song the MEMs had heard on an ad

In the end though, with the Scots motivated, I doubt she could ever have beaten Stevie. She may well have beaten an English version

It would be fascinating to know the Scottish/Rest of the UK split in votes,to see if indeed as many of us suspect, the Scottish vote won it for Stevie.

Similar to yourself Fig,I think perhaps if Stevie was from say Barnsley,we may have had a different result......all speculation of course.

It was more than Stevie being a Scot imo, he was a Scot that they could be proud of. Especially with recent political history it was a massive bonus to his chances. Of course, they played the nationality card so heavily it will have cost him English votes potentially. But I'll take a Scottish hero any time in one of these events Happy
The surprise to me is that I was his only cheerleader pretty much, given all of his advantages.
But if you backed Lucy @20-1 and laid off at evens, it's not much different to backing Stevie @10-1 and winning.
As it happens, after collecting all my bets I calculated that Lucy was the bigger winner.

I'm surprised they held the price until Sunday, Baldy is one of the books that usually cuts as soon as I've struck a bet. Along with Paddy, VC, Boyles and Coral.

That's the main point. Jai was a similar type and won despite Cowell doing his best to get him beat
Subo was loved more by the sentimental Americans than the Scots

As for opinion on here, I think we all rated his chances but the big prices went very quickly
I didn't realise baldie had held the 10/1 til Sunday. I doubt it was still there by the time I woke up

The surprise to me was the extent the BBC helped him throughout the programme.....that was the part I certainly didn't envisage. The fact that he was Scottish,a fireman, quite good looking and a family man was obviously the perfect starting point....in fact you would be hard pushed to invent a better profile. However foretelling how media savvy he was, together with the programmes continued support for him (has anyone ever had the pimp slot in a semi-final and final before on a RTV show?.) was the unknown factor at the time of his audition.

Would he have won without the backing of the programme, plus the media onslaught north of the border ? Who knows....it's not inconcievable that he would have still triumphed given his impeccable qualifications,MOR singing and (faux) humbleness.

The 10s was huge, but I genuinely priced him up @evens after the first show. Which is well documented, however I'd better stop crowing soon Blush

BGT is usually another profitable event, and you're only as good as your last winner Cool

Looking at his RO stats.....

Audition pimp slot Show 1 .....best possible position.

Battle Round ...penultimate slot, even though it was a relatively sub-standard battle.

KO round .... Mid position performance.

1/4 Final ....Last of Team Ricky to perform, and given Fast Pass.

Semi - Final --- Pimp slot

Final --  Pimp Slot
