Before you start to make any bets, I shall remind you of two things: Invest not more then you can afford to spend and do not take any writers word for being the almighty truth.

Now, let's get down to what the we know:
Record-breaking charting I-tunes in the competitions history. Done extremely well in the Baltics (That leaves me to believe it will do pretty decent in rest of Eastern Europe, but not a guarantee)
Everyone loves this song. Or almost everyone....a jury favorite, a tele-voter favorite. That combination counts for everything.
Armenia drawn 7 and has not impressed.
Sweden solid, good but boring. Starts 6mins after the overhyped but dangerous Austrian entry, and that surely will take the steem out of both of them a bit.
Netherlands starting at 24, after the home entry. Crowd is going, everyone will remember this, since only 2 songs after it (San Marino that stands zero chance and an amazingly overhyped UK entry)

The voting order - Check the last 9 countries. Switzerland, Austria and Belgium should all give 10-12p to Netherlands. Slovenia (charted super-high I-tunes), Lithuania (same thing), no reason to believe Italy and Spain won't go for this. Ukraine and Georgia are unknowns, for every country except Armenia.

The voting order should be created to keep people at the tv. That is a good assumption. It could be that Netherlands are already clear with 9 nations to go, since the EBU has the voting for semi's and the jury result for Friday now. And in order to create maximum excitement, it will rain 10-12 pointers from the last 9 nations.

Yes, it could also be that I am totally wrong but if you believe that, I suggest you lay Netherlands.

For me, I can't understand how the price could still be 4/1. Like everything points towards a victory.

Good Luck everyone and hopefully we make some money tonight.

Think none should miss it,that's why mate. Having said that, nothing is ever a guarantee. But I can say I am extremely optimistic. Let's find out tonight!

Eurovision is a strange creature beware saslokk, "everything points towards a victory"?...what you can't equate is the millions at home who may find the netherlands song a trifle boring, which is highly likely, even folks on here dissmissed it on first listen, hence the 400/1+ price early...good luck with it saslokk and all the other backers.

As I said, let's see tonight what happens. It's just money at the end of the dayExcited

This is basically a song v the freak show. Both are unique. We haven't had anything resembling a polished country style song before and we haven't had a bloke with a beard dressed as a woman before. I just think one is slightly more worthy than the other. Strip away the ultimate gimmick and Austria would just be one of the rags.

Agree Austria is a shocking song, and hopefully this bearded nonsense is put into touch come votes

or they could be voting for Spain with all those countries at the end..

After hearing the Netherlands song for one minute I found myself constantly looking at my watch.
The song is so dull, boring and plods on in the same plodding tune which seems like an eternity.
Its a BIG LAY.

It's catchy and has nicked one of the best intros in  every breath you take...can't be bad.
Report duffy May 10, 2014 6:35 PM BST
actually, it's every breath you take all the way through...still, if they can get away with it...good job...catchy.Happy
Report iprefertolay May 10, 2014 6:45 PM BST
The Netherlands is a big lay now, when they start the song and when everyone falls asleep back it back at higher odds to ensure a profit regardless.

Before we know the fate of my bet on The Netherlands,  can I be a bit smug and declare a 4 pounds 39 pence bet, matched at 840. Laid some off (but not all), hoping for my biggest price winner ever.

Although I won a few quid backing it top 4 and top 10 still see it as a real shame.

Just the kind of voter the competition attracts and the divide will probably increase again after last night's ultimate gimmick. There are just not enough people voting on the basis of a proper song. We know the make-up of the audience so Austria was always going to prosper from a huge reaction. Plus if commentators around Europe were pushing it in the same as Norton it was clear that the Netherlands were always going to find it difficult.
Report the swede May 12, 2014 2:33 PM BST
what the lowest odds Netherlands traded during the voting?
and how high did Austria go?
Report timbuctooth May 14, 2014 9:05 PM BST
Don`t know about The Netherlands, was it something like 5 or 5.5?  I had some pennies matched at 200 on Austria and I vaguely recall looking at the graph, and seeing that Austria hit 700+. Not altogether sure, though.
