Betfair will have to void bottom 2 as Frankie is a void bet before the voting even opens.
This is the point .On week 6 the voting has not opened and there is no number for the viewers to ring on frankie.
So like in previous shows when this has happened they will have to void the bets taken for froankie on elimination
and bottom 2 + combo as the market hasnt even opened and frankie is not a runner.
Basically its like offering bets of any number on a roulette wheel then taking that number off the reel
befoe spinningh the wheel.

It would make for an interesting show to give the current 7 the week off. Maybe send them to Paris for a few days and film them there for a programme - a bit of light hearted fun.

Then have a show with all those the public did not decide on, to come back for a sing off - the winner get through as a "wild card".
We are far enough off the final so that this is not grossly unfair.

What a mess for the producers. The more you consider the options, the worse each one seems.

Based on that article, they pretty much have to have three contestants on the last weekend.

Yeah I'm leaning towards some sort of wildcard now. It would be a massive story, especially if they brought the likes of Jade back in. Might actually 'save' the show.

We know who would be likely to win this sing off and she is good enough to hold her own - at only 16 it is a big call being thrown back into the deep end but it is a chance few would turn down.

I agree - odds of 'no replacement' lengthen by the minute.  They need to do something to salvage the situation - and it's too good an opportunity to boost ratings.  The more I think about it, the more I reckon they'll throw out the rule book and do something drastic...

As someone said above, when it comes to the XF there are no rules, other than the fact that the producers can make them up at a drop of a hat!

Thing is if they bring in one of the four who never made the last 16 wouldn't that be ridiculously unfiar to get a 'bye' into the last 8?  Like I said before let's exaggerate the scenario and say that someone drops out when down to the final 3 so they replace them with Amelia, James, 2 Shoes, Jonjo?  Outrageous.

I do think simply bringing Johnny back in would be about the most underwhelming thing they could possibly do, and would make next week very dull indeed.

I think though that depending upon the decision, this could be the end of the X Factor.

This series has been a disaster and if they bring back the wrong act...

For mine, it has to be Johnny - unless he was 2nd bottom - in which case there should be a sing off.

Bringing back an act previously eliminated, at any stage, is manifestly unfair on others and whilst we all know it is fixed anyway, such a blatant show would allow me to turn off.

The simplist option (although not cheap) is to miss a week out.

Why not carry on without him and cut the final down from 3 to 2?

The 2010 X Factor 10 Golden Rules (according to NOTW last year):

1. No getting drunk
2. No sexual relationships between contestants
3. No leaving the house without permission
4. Lads and girls must stay apart overnight
5. No pornography in the house
6. Zero tolerance on damaging property
7. Zero tolerance on drug use
8. 24-hour-a-day security surveillance
9. No relationships with X Factor fans
10. No overnight stays for contestants' boyfriends or girlfriends during live finals

By my reckoning Frankie had already broken at least four of these rules, even before his cocaine boast!

Here's one. They carry on, and on Saturday 3rd Dec they announce that the voting for the final three will be open for a whole week. Kerching. A few more nervous performances on the 4th. Then they can kick the third off on the 11th, and finish on the 12th.

Two runners would be incredibly thin.

If they have a group performance, Gaga, and 2 other big name artists in the results show - can't imagine the ratings would fall too much. Advertising revenue dwarfs the voting revenue so I doubt they'd be too bothered about that.

Been done before though hasn't it?  Give the final 3 two songs each on Saturday then on Sunday announce who goes and carry on with the final 2.  Don't see the problem myself.

I bet Frankie topped the vote last week. It's a conspiracy.

The issue with the 3 down to 2 finals is that the ITV schedule has become over dependant on the show. Not sure how much the show costs and how much replacement air time would cost but heard a few years ago that BGT cost £1 million/hour to make. So this is costing £2 million as well as the advertisers who will not pay as much and then there is the phone voting which will be reduced with a double final.

This would run in to several millions - so this is not an option for the production team if they want to keep their jobs beyond next week.

If there are straight eliminations from now on the current number of contestants doesn't allow for a 3 on the final Saturday down to 2 on the final Sunday.  Some people have got their numbers wrong.

Except this time Lou they would have to sustain two 90 minute shows live at Wembley with just two finalists (if no replacement is put in).  I just can't see that working, no matter how they try to fill it...

Could have normal, and a week before the final have an 'x factor all-time special'. Some previous winners, successful artists and perhaps even a couple of the deleted judges return for special performance (and advertising before Xmas)

I don't understand how we wouldn't have a 'Final 3'.  Whoever are the last three left are the final 3 for Saturday then a final 2 on Sunday.

Lou - there's only six contestants now left to perform on Saturday (12th).  This is then reduced to five for 19th Nov, four on 26th Nov, three on 3rd Dec, leaving just two for the final weekend of 10th / 11th Dec.

What about Sophie, Jedward, Vickers, Eggnogg and Wagner all come back ....................... then we all realise that Frankie was actually better that that lot so he rides back on stage on a white horse and saves us all?

I'm not sure but don't they usually have 4 on the Saturday then 3 on the Sunday.  If so why have a double ellimination this past week and leave themselves short for the last weekend?  Why not just leave it at one  going every week and it naturally runs down to 4 left on the Saturday?

I think 3 down to 2 is what they would prefer and what they have had in the past.  I think last year was just about having Cher perform with Will I Am and promote her as a finalist.

They need to justify bringing Amelia back over the other 3 acts were booted so they'll all perform and a public vote will see Ameila back in. Happy dayz they've been looking for an excuse to bring her back after the epic fail of getting rid of her in the first place.

I can definitely see Amelia Lily coming back, to a fanfare of 'It was so hard, I made a mistake leaving you out, but you were all so good, and you deserve another chance........'

X Factor bosses & the dim public will regard this move as 'sensational' - re-introudcing an axed act won't be. Furthermore,any re-introduction opnens up a hornets nest as regards voting and rebates etc. No, it's much more simple & will grab more headlines, without potential transgression of any rules to have her back in the show.

Anyone thinking the Risk can in any way, shape or form be brought back are deluding themselves.

Risk - no chance. Johnny - fat chance. Amelia - some chance.

Thing is with Amelia though is it means she gets a 'bye' not just past one round which would be ok I suppose but past about 5 rounds.  Supposing someone had dropped out of the final 3?  Bring Amelia in and that's fair?  Surely not.

I would say there is a fair amount of difference.

Why? Half the BB house had been evicted by the time Suzie Verruka entered the house......is it fair she only had four or five weeks to last, whereas the rest had the full 12 weeks?

See your point though I don't watch BB myself but this is a bit more high profile and we're trying to find the best singer according to mass voting not just you or I's opinion.  It would surely be unfair for someone to skip 5 rounds and suddeenly join in.  Also how about my scenario where I asked 'What if it happened in the final'? ................... let Amelia in and that's fair?

Im not saying it is fair. It happens though. Dancing on Ice is another......that gurning guy from kids TV broke his ankle and some soap twirlie came in to replace him in week 4 or 5.......is that fair? Theyre after finding the best skater so its comparable to XF.

There must be a cutoff at which tptb say no more replacements.....in all these types of show......eg isnt Pat Sharp down as the official replacement for IACGMOOH? Maybe IAC they say no subs once eliminations start.

What if Janet and Misha both broke their legs on the ice next week and couldnt perform. They wouldnt move the final date. WOuld they have shows with no eliminations? Would they get reserves in?

It is just not comparing like with like formatwise.

People have seen other acts performing at auditions, BC, JH, read about them in the press and on the net, and formed opinions.

They always have reserves for DOI.  It is in their rules.

It seems to be in the singing show rules that someone can be off sick for one week, but if it is for longer than that they have to leave.

I take your point squares about JH BC opinions etc, but what do you expect the producers to do if they dont have enough acts to get to final week with two acts? Theyve pre-sold the ad breaks from now till the final.....noones going to tune in for singalong week with no eliminations.....reruns of fatty macmanus final wont really pull in the viewers.....

I agree a week with no elimination is just ridiculous.  However I think whilst Johnny would be deemed 'first reserve' as it were because he was last out to bring back Amelia which means passing over Johnny, Sophie, Sammi and Nu Vibe let alone the other initial three who never made the final 12 is outrageous.

Yes lou Ive already posted somewhere that I thought that the do nothing option was the most likely. Top level meetings though reported by the papers (means a phone call to Cowell) leads me to think that its possible someone comes in. Risk and Johnny no chance as public have already eliminated them. Ameila has been trading as low as 11s over the past momnth, leading me to speculate that she is the official reserve......as she wasnt evicted by GBP, its possible she will come in, although James Michael should get that slot, but I think tptb know that Michael has no chance. I think they were saving Amelia for next year.

The common sense thing would seem to be to have a "next in line" which happened with the returns of Sneddon, Darius and Nikko Smith in AI.

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has said that Frankie Cocozza has “blown a wonderful opportunity” after the teenager was given the axe from the show yesterday. Frankie was cut from the programme over allegedly bragging about taking cocaine during Sunday night’s show.

“Frankie’s blown a wonderful opportunity. It’s very sad, but he has no one to blame but himself,” Simon told The Sun.

Frankie’s mentor Gary Barlow yesterday said he was “hugely disappointed” in the singer after the news broke.

The Take That star added: “I’m sorry to see him go as we’ve been through a lot together in such a short time.

“I hope Frankie continues to look to me as a friend and supporter and works it all out, picks himself up and somehow tries to turn this into a positive.”

Meanwhile Frankie’s dad told the Daily Mail today he and his wife were “heartbroken” by the news, saying: “Neither of us saw this coming. I only spoke to him last night on the phone and he said he was going to really knuckle down.”

In a statement, Frankie said: “I’d like to apologise to Gary, my fellow contestants and everyone who has voted for me, but, as of today, I will no longer be in The X Factor. My life during the show has gone out of control and my behaviour off stage has overstepped the rules of the competition. I no longer deserve my place in the show, so I am therefore leaving. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me.”

An further announcement is expected later today.

Fair enough we'll see.  I personally cannot see any way Amelia comes back.  Johnnny has a shout and 'no replacement' has a shout.

My bank would love Johnny back but after the *slating* he received from the judges 4-0 he has no hope. Risk not a hope in hell.....this morning Ive layed my whole bank down to my last £43 against them hoping to buy back £2 at 1000 by lunchtime. I cant see anyone else eliminated by PV coming back.

And bring back Amelia would create a few column inches which is what theyre after......maybe they dress it up as  saying to Barlow "who would you like on your team"

More sense about Frankie from Kevin Bishop on The Wright Stuff than anywhere else I've read or heard.

Lou - they let Barlow (Gary and Ken....separated at birth) choose - thats how she bypasses everyone. Although I think do nothing is more likely, its less controversial and less publicity.

I think they need to do what looks fair rather than doing something which looks like it for even more sensationalism.

There were cries of "fix" all over the place after last weekend; further controversial decisions and that will only escalate.

They're obviously going to put Johnny in The Risk.
Have them back as a 5 boy group, with Johnny as lead singer.
