yep on a few combos.
Erin is a great partner for anyone to have, miles ahead of anyone when it comes to choriography IMO. Her paso with Austin was amazing, and she has continued to give Ricky routines that entertain. There are better dancers than her but she takes risks and 90% of the time they are spot on (The doll fiasco with Colin being the 10% lol) |

What type of wally prices Craig up as 8/15. Hehe.
|
|
By:
If they are pricing Craig at 4/5 for elimination (I would go slightly bigger than that), then he should be 4/5 for bottom 2 as well.

Interesting that James (who was very good as a roving reporter) said that Ricky's dance last week was the best ever on Strictly. Although Jill's jive in series 2 will always be the most memorable because it was the first sensational dance, I'm inclined to agree with James. It really was quite, quite brilliant.

He was excellent last week.
The 1st wow dance of the series. As someone who is red on him I'm hoping he doesn't reach that standard every week. Best ever? That's still Colin Jackson for me, in the ballroom and Ramps in the fast latin. As for the women, I'm with the general view on DS and can't agree with Len's comment this week that Lisa Snowden is the best female dancer not to have won. She wasn't even the best last year. That was Rachel for me. Emma Bunton, Loiusa Lynton, Kelly Brooke, Zoe Ball weren't bad either. |
|
By:
Alesha was the best ever. Maybe not as technically great as the likes of Jill but her ability to wow and tell a story with a dance may never been beaten. I think the show has suffered since her victory as no-one can get close to her.

i've got a mad feeling for laila and jade, did the double with the lads. but to be fair, craig will probably be in there this week, surely his luck runs out. mind, it depends on the judges and how many draws we get...
|
|

James also was very good on monday night when he was on with Zoe discussing their exit.
We've given him stick in the past but he spoke very well..Zoe seemed to bring out a better side to him. |

Phil - electric in Q.O.S tonight :)

That salsa dance Matt did one week was the best of the competition. |
|
By:
Agree.
Matt and Flavia's Salsa to Vehicle and Vincent and Louisa's Jive to Smiley Faces more memorable than any of Alesha's dances individually, altho overall her performances throughout the series were excellent. |

we used to watch SCD but lost all interest when it was blatantly fixed to allow Alesha dixon to win. I'm not saying she wasn't the best dancer, but in my opinion the judges colluded to have matt and gethin in the dance off. gethin danced beautifully and matt was poor - and they voted gethin off!!! purely because they knew the public would vote him the winner in the final and the judges wanted alesha to win. my wife used to vote every week in this programme and we felt they just made fools of us.
|
|
By:
does anyone else think that was the case? iirc they made gethin bottom of the three with their scores (when matt nearly fell over) to guarantee he was in the dance off. as the public vote was given precedence, it should have been matt and alesha in the dance off presuming gethin was topping the public vote.
|
|
By:
I'd ask FLL for his opinion if I were you ;)
|
|
By:
i dont alesha deserved to win anndddd was the best dancer
|
|
By:
I did like Matt's salsa but Alesha was good is almost every dance her Waltz and V.Waltz were other stand-outs. Alesha topped the vote in the semi anyway ;)
|
|
By:
I found Alesha over-rated and rather dull to watch a lot of the time. No great spark with Matt Cutler. The best couple by far in history of SCD is Karen Hardy & Mark Ramprakesh. Some of their routines were electric and there's never been a better Argentine tango than the one Ramps did to secure his place in the final. Their salsa was a stunner among others. And the show dance they did to secure the final was out of this world.
And yes, Gethin was blatantly stitched up. Len standing up to applaud Matt. So o.t.t. and done purely to encourage people to vote for him. And the scoring was engineered, as you say, so Gethin could not finish any higher than 3rd on judges' leaderboard before his last dance. The question is, could we see something similar this year to aid Ricky W? |
|
By:
I get the distinct impression those who don't rate Alesha lost money on her ;)
|
|
By:
no, I made money on her UTV. Always make money on the SCD winner.
Prices up for next week's elimination with Spoils - have priced it very wrong imo |
|
By:
Jade is the standout. Spoils had plenty of my cash tonight tho :(

lol Len on the BC ffs :(

Took the opprtunity to get rid of my Tuffers and Ali bets last night at about break even for both.
Ali, as pointed out on the show thread is the teachers pet - that dance didnt deserve 10's and I didnt enegage emotionally with it at all. I like her less than I did at the start to be honest. Yes Tuffers is likeable as is his partnernish with the gorgeous katya, but I thought his performance was cringeworthy last night and he doesn't have one good dance yet for the final should he get there. Chris managed that last night and he's gone in my eyes from that annoying little twerp doing the sport on Breakfast TV to someone I actually am beginning to like. His relationship with Ola is quite endearing, thoigh has the potential to get a bit sickly sweet. So I'm all in on Chris now :) a fairly decent wager at that. Still terrific value at current prices, took some 20's at Tote last night (ty Chepster hehe) I agree with what seems the consensus on here ie Ricky W + Ali + AN Other final with the other having a much better chance of winning that their odds will be when it comes to pass. Could have waited till then but the value on Chris was far too tempting. |

An Ali~RW dance-off is not impossible, could even be next week.

Morning,
Cider, been doing a load of figures and can't see it being next week unfortunately. |

By:
good luck Bexley, I went a nice green on Chris last week after the voting leak.
If (and its a decent if) he gets to the final then I think he can hold his own in the final. He will be able to put in a 35/36 ballroom and his week 1 Rumba was very very good so he should be able to get 36 or even higher for his Latin dance in the final too. I think that will be important for him in that he would not be disgraced in a 3 way final, I think when it comes to the final the public will be more than willing to vote for a good dancer and not the best (Gough, Chambers) But not so much a dancer thats just way worse (eg Chris Parker was clearly beating Natasha everyweek in series 1 but when it came to the final she was just way way better). Other examples include Coleen and Jess at the end of last years DOI, and it may not be a coincidence that Jo and Craig both went out this year with their lowest scoring week. I can see Ricky and Ali getting 40's by the bucket load, will this help finalist number 3?? |
|
By:
RW has VW next week so yes, unlikely.
|
|
By:
Thanks Sean,
agree entirely with your logic re the 3rd finalist having to be able to at least compete score wise with Ricky and Ali (should that be the case in the final). Phil and Katya, much as I like them can't do that at the moment and his dancing hasn't shown much if any improvement recently or indeed the potential to improve. I have pretty much ignored the others as I don't give them any real chance whatsoever. I may be late on the Chris express compared to some others but the evidence wasn't compelling enough until that dance last night. Maybe my imagination also but didn't the crowd really get behind him as well?- more so than Phil or Ricky G? |
|
By:
hasn't he done that already Cider?

|

think that's RickyG
Jade Tango RickyG VW |

You're right sq, the other Ricky doing VW. I was thinking RW was due a latin!

RW should be jive or cha cha

Laila a rumba.

fascinated to know who dictates which dances the couples do at this stage because it is critical to couples' chances of getting through imo. Don't think that's helpful for Laila, whereas if she kept alternating and had a ballroom next week, I gave her a better chance in the long run. Unless she gets through and then has 2 ballrooms in a row, saving the salsa for the q/f (final 5) if she gets through, which, I'm guessing will be 2 dances - one Latin, one ballroom.
