Said it before, what's the point of this? Right on the eve of the worlds, I don't get having a long frame tourney with 8 players , it's about as exciting as watching paint dry. I love the long matches but this just seems pointless. The players championship is a far better tournament and that's even a qualifier for the tour championship which I don't get. Then you have the qualifiers for Sheffield the day after . Seems way too jammed together.

Xiao had a number of chances in the earlier frames of the session - took none of them and Higgins takes it 10-3

JB ain't missing much, but he's leaving nothing easy when he does.
jb choke incoming. how many times has he lost from a position like this just this season, let alone the last few years
you just know he's not winning frame and match in this one visit
Best I have seen Higgins play for a long time. Long potting, and positional very good. You actually felt that he was going to convert chances. Will it continue, as only few days ago he looked terrible in the opening round of the previous tournament?

They are both playing at near their best these two old foes.
But I find it interesting that Selby has beaten Higgins in the last 3 finals where they met. Although both have their better games firing at present, if that continues I see Selby still fairly well ahead in this final, so I took some of the current win prices for him here.

Higgins very fortunate with that last break. Must have a mess of half a dozen positional shots.
A little bit strange in that Selby was a lot more fluent in winning his frame than Higgins was in winning three. I haven't had a bet, but I would still side with Selby. If Higgins maintains the lead, I think there will still be a doubt about him getting over the line, particularly against someone who usually beats him.
Selby on his c-game apart from the one frame where he was a-game.

After backing him, that's one of the worst sessions I've seen Selby play, aside from 1 frame of course!

So now played 5 awful frames and 3 excellent ones - no middle ground it seems for his play.

Has the crumble already started? Bad mistakes from Higgins and Selby whitewashes him in the two pressure frames. Higgins the better player earlier, but he also had the run of the balls. Could easily have been 4-4. Plenty on tonight's opening frame.

Pretty much summed it up for me I wasn't around for the first session and, having not had a bet at all, turned off at 8-5, since it looked like being (yet) another train. Not a good tournament for me at all
Bizarre final, bizarre Selby show - he is a very odd player right now, though not sure it is a good sign for the WC how he can just break apart like that.

That's twice in recent weeks I have been on the wrong side of Higgins. It was bad enough against Guodong, but last night was crazy. At 8-5 down he was a million. For several years he has been the one falling apart at the business end, and then we get a complete role reversal against Selby who in recent times just beats him.
