Wakelin appears to be in his real zenith these days, doesn't he? Doing very well in general, for his usual level.

You have to wonder about some of these results. Are the players putting on a accas on all the outsiders?

Agree stu - Wakelin playing as well/better than he ever has imo and looks like he believes - but Trump v Wakelin h2h is 13:0. Including that European Masters match where Trump came back from 0:4 to win 5:4. Quite looking forward to both of these lunchtime matches.

Will be interesting matchup, like you say with that awful H2H for Wakelin.

He played excellent last round. If he brings that here, Trump will not have it easy.

Yes, not only are the big names not trying, they've also paid the "outsiders" score for fun.

The other thing I am noticing it that 3 out of the 4 semi players will be from China!

Wakelin and Xiao have been very reliable players against those they should beat.  Wakelin has improved quite significantly against higher quality opposition in the last couple of years and really kicked on last season.  Xiao has always looked like he just hasn't had the belief against the games best until, funnily enough, falling over the line against Kyren earlier in the week.  I was out yesterday, but he played superbly well this morning against Shon.  The first three frames were almost as good as you will ever see from anybody.  It looks like a real belief change, but we're still far enough away from the naming of a champion to know for sure.

If Wake keeps it together at this point, Trump is there for the taking IMO

Xiao going to need to use the MSI to get his head sorted, because this is starting to look like a train otherwise.

Frigging OpenReach decided they were going to dig up the road in front of my house shortly after my last post, killing my broadband in the process.  Gave up at 1045 and went out on the bike, so didn't see the conclusion of the Xiao game, but see he won 6-4 from 1-4.

It's just come back on.
