Wondering why is Pang v Docherty the only game live now, that's not showing as covered live video...??
|
|
By:
The usual BF feck up, presumably!
|
|
By:
I tweeted them to ask for it added, it showed up now with link to LV, but doesn't load the video still for some reason...
It's only game I wanted to actually watch currently ![]() |
|
By:
Incidentally what F is Pang doing so far in this game...if he loses to Ken
![]() |
|
By:
3-0 Ken
LV just appeared, yay. |
|
By:
Is Ken channelling his 1997 here I wonder...given he's also one of the only men to lose to a woman (Ng) recently, it's a fair turnaround!
|

By:
Reverting back to type, missed easy pink for 5-0, now looing bad at 4-1

looking even, though looing would be about right too now

Judgement Day #1 of 2, and surely to goodness the markets have to be a little busier today?! They can't possibly be much (any) worse!
|
|
By:
First sentence i hear upon turning on you tube is Rob Walker going "you might think we're exaggerating". You exaggerate Rob? Never!!
Then Ken talking about how strange it is to see mags in qualifiers, "he's always been in the top 16." Only fourth time in last 7 years ken so nearly right there.. Think that's my quota of exasperation nearly reached after 30 seconds. Well done guys, great warm up for the crucible ![]() |

All good mate, hope things well your end. Not seen a lot so far tbh, but hopefully try to watch a bit today and tomorrow. Only McGill and Xu Si left of my pre tournie picks so not a great start this morning!
Have to confess, told a lie above. It's only mags third time in the qualifiers, not the second as i said. Still, point stands i think Remember checking this before about mags and interesting stats regarding world championships. In the 10 years from 2013-22 Mags was a seed on 7 occasions - reaching q/f in 2019 and beaten first round the 6 other times. Pretty sure he carries proud record for first round losses as a seed and by a comfortable margin. On the 3 times he emerged from qualifiers, he was beaten by Ronnie first round 2020 and reached q/fs the other two times. Not saying we should all be reaching for the back button or anything, but players are different mentally as we know, and maybe there's something about coming through the qualifiers that suits Maguire. Doesnt seem to do much harm anyway. |

*not the FOURTH as i said ffs

Wk 1 was fooooooooking desperate, TBH, mate. Honestly, there's more money about for the BO7 Qs than there was for a lot of these, and of course, these are so much longer matches...
I didn't get a single one of my big priced pics that I backed up with cash through to Judgement Day! (though I suspect we're trying to find the equivalent of a glitter-sprikled unicorn horn anyway, in truth).Interesting stats about Mags! I suspect that might all be linked to work put in in the run-up to the tournament! You don't get the impression that he's a great practicer! 2-2 Dotty, 3-1 Licky, 2-2 JakJ, 3-1 Cao |
|
By:
I noticed, a little too late, the H2H with Ricky v Theppy
6-0 to Ricky very oddly good - managed a small bet at 2-1 which is now 4-1 That kind of H2H has to be a mental factor...? |
|
By:
I definitely do think it comes into play with certain players, but I'm not convinced Theppy does much thinking either before or during matches. He's got such a see ball, hit ball attitude...
He's had decent chances in most frames so far and just hasn't put them away, in typical Theppy style.... |
|
By:
Maybe less psych then - poss a style matchup though that suggests Ricky has the edge between them in some kind of systematic way. 6-0 is no fluke.
|
|
By:
Theppy opening up the balls and leaving them all on when he misses, most likely!
![]() |
|
By:
Looks like 4-3
|
|
By:
Yep good point about the misses - though wouldn't that apply to all his opponents...?
|
|
By:
Depends how good they are at clearing up themselves. Some are better than others.
3-2 Dotty, 4-3 Licky, 3-2 JakJ, 3-2 Cao |
|
By:
On the other side, suppose it's a confidence booster for Ricky, knowing he's not lost to Theppy in six meetings...
|
|
By:
And that knowing when the chances come, they're likely to be decent ones.
Theppy's frame conversion rate is really poor for how well he scores. |

You don't get the impression that he's a great practicer! 2-2 Dotty, 3-1 Licky, 2-2 JakJ, 3-1 Cao Sorry to hear that mate, maybe more people just prefer the quick hit of BO7 than tying their cash up for best part of a day. Picks up next week i expect or we're all in trouble! Just even looking at the match ups, can't even see there'll be many fresh faces popping up next week, 1 or 2 at most. I mean, Davis v Perry, Higginson v Grace, Dottie v Seltie etc etc. And not looking like Angles will have young Woo Yizza to rhapsodize over the way he's started v Wakelin. And reckon you're spot on re Mags there, suits him to have a nice couple of looseners and probably the case that qualifiers do have an advantage for R1 at least. |
|
By:
And then Theppy goes and runs out three frames in triple-quick time, 4-4.
4-2 Dotty, 4-2 JakJ, 3-3 LTT |

As I'm well-documented as saying, I prefer the BO7s myself. Much more fun betting mediums and not too much sitting around if there's a session full of 1.01 trains. Fingers crossed for next week. I have no doubt it will be much improved, even if that's only relative for the tournament compared to years gone by! There were a few interesting glimmers for the future in Wk1, TBF. Boiko looked much improved and wasn't quite so reckless as V1.0. Still a long way to go, but he can definitely pot a ball. But, yes, not much scope for any guard changing going on.... |

By:
I noticed on of their H2Hs, Theppy was 3-0 up best of 7 match, and lost it 4-3...
Indian Open SF match too |

Theppy playing like a GOAT currently..
