Why not? Boxing fans love to get tanked up. The main idea of these deals is to bring events to Saudi so they can sportswash to boost their reputation and provide high quality events for the Saudi population. When they pay the big money for the darts event, that'll be the PDC happy and the crowd will be mainly Saudi

Bazza has to keep the players sweet. he's forcing them to play in Saudi. if it was a flat 128 there would be even more discontent. this is a nod to the old guard to get them on side

Saudi's buying sporting events for mainly Saudi's to watch live. This is all this is. There's no need for alcohol. The oil money pays for the events so the PDC/World Snooker/Matchroom Boxing etc etc don't care

Unlike UK events where the gate, sponsor and TV deal are the most important factors; the Saudi events are bankrolled by the GSA meaning Matchroom get the money upfront

we know hearn will be doing well out of the event players too oil money making its way into the coffers as I see it there is no appetite for snooker, darts etc in saudi these are largely western interests western & arab interests generally do not correlate same goes for a fkin football world cup in qatar ffs it will be talked up to the 9s but trust me it will be a fringe event over here like the chinese events are |
