Hats off to Ding, been superb this session, very unlucky actually not to take a lead into tomorrow. If I lose my big Selby outright to Ding then there will still be a smile in my heart, love this guy.

G's ding on his way to the title |

Best of 9 between 2 snooker players who are playing lights out at times, you can't be that bullish on either.

If it went 11-7 I was saying goodnight, Ding has served it up here.
Selby not 100% is nonsense, he is just a grinder and he plays this way all the time this is his best as well. |

ding's become a man 2nite

Havn't seen a decent quality match since the Hendry and white finals, just keep backing these two blind for the next 5/6 years for the worlds Ronnie will have a zimmer frame next season and I can see trump with a syrup.

Selby has already dominated been world number 1 for 2 years that's going to last for the foreseeable future and dings got a new game, these two have major bottle, trump will never dominate because he's brittle..
|
|
By:
I would say Trump has more bottle than Ding, but no matter how much bottle you have you can not get away with playing stupid shots all the time.
When on form the year he lost in the final he looked as if he would be unstoppable for years to come, Murphy similar the year he won, sure Ding is playing great this year, but he has hit form at great time. Think Griffiths has probably helped Dings game a lot as well. |

Ding and Selby have dragged snooker back to respectability, although the bags are ridiculous the cameras were giving some great shots of them today,i can honestly say I've never seen bigger even on club tables those middle bags are absolutely huge.Selby and ding should dominate these worlds for a few years now, only one of them has to play to this standard once it comes around, dings got a career changing boost especially if he wins it and Selby can still take comfort he's been beaten by someone at the peak of their form.Obviously if trump ever put it together then he could well win it,but he's looking like shaun murphy as every season goes by with a confused game and a terrible attitude. The amount of mugs he loses to is unbelievable, completely bottled it ahainst Mc cleod never seen anything like that, rabbit In headlights.

By:
Selby has been world number 1 now for 6 years. Only Ding is a major threat to that status in the near future. Trump will probably never win a world championships. Selby continues to be underrated for some reason though obviously Ding is playing superbly and this game could clearly go either way (though on previous records i have to slightly favour Selby)

if this carries on in the same vein as last night(yeah,i know it's a new day)
i can't see selby winning ding was defo getting to him..making him tetchy and flustered i know the jester came from 3-5 down but if he falls behind again i think ding pulls away whereas, perversely enough and contrary to his previous wilting m.o. ding has shown great fortitude and composure and assuredness at the table when he has fallen behind which has surprised many incl. myself mark has to go ahead again to win w/o stating the obvious also, firmly of the conviction that whoever gets to 17 first will nick this!! |
|
By:
Very good match so far
Selby was making some mistakes you would never expect him to but that just shows how well Ding has played to keep the pressure on him imo |
|

some of these comments are clearly highly based on what has just happened in the last two weeks. people clearly have short memories.
the idea that trump will never win a world title is laughable. you could have said that about ding a few years back and now it looks like he's going to go on and win it. Selby will not dominate for the next five years. players have their runs, and then someone else takes over. plus Selby is not in the same league as a davis, or a Hendry as a dominant figure in the sport. If he was he would have won more than two titles by the age of 34. Selby's success over the last few years is clearly based on a huge work ethic, however history shows it's difficult to maintain that motivation for extremely long periods, about five or six years is normal, however I wouldn't be surprised if his motivation waned hugely over the next few years, and his results then dropped off, look at Djokovic in tennis as an example. I would be amazed if ding and Selby dominated for the next few years with no one else barely getting a look in. |
|
By:
you want my opinion?(probably not)
![]() can't see either of these guys troubling the winner of AJ/VK ![]() |
|
By:
I have said before that Selby won't sustain a long run at the top. He has to work too hard, and the naturals always have better longevity.
Trump I am worried about, he has 2 years on Ding I suppose but to fail so miserably this year disgusted me. |
|
By:
trump has done my bollox for years makes me sick

One of the best 8 frame sessions I can remember last night . Brilliant from Ding to do that after losing the 22nd frame.Hope Ding can do it and go on to stroll the final but Selby always seems to find a way.
|
|
By:
yes i agree that was superb snooker
|
|
By:
I've got to be honest when M.Selby stole that 22nd frame I thought that was the end for Ding, and it probably would have been in previous years. But, he's still got a huge task in front of him this afternoon - as we know Selby won't go away easily.
