Poomjaeng is based in the Star Academy in Sheffield and shares a house with four other Thai players, including former world number three and professional since 1989, James Wattana, whom Poomjaeng has described as a big brother.
Bet they have a snooker table and gamble late into the night round that place ![]() |

Did well 7-2 up a certainty to go through

How far behind are these *LIVE* pictures? He's already won.

Snooker needs more characters like him badly

Not a snooker fan but really really enjoyed that

Everybody emailing bbc earlier on, on how refreshing this player is, and how exciting the match had been. Yet bbc shows selby on their red channel, very very poor by bbc.

Did anybody notice he took the last shot (blue) WITH HIS EYES SHUT !!!!

thai lad is very slow.think they should introduce a shot clock after ebdon the last night.dont know how they can attract more fans/players when you are watching a guy take half the day to address the ball and then another age to actually shoot.delighted he beat maguire tho.maguire cant deal with a bit of luck going against him.if only he could react better.he lost the head and threw this game away after the kick in frame 12.

I didn't really notice the slow play myself to be honest. Of course on some v important shots he was quite deliberate but apart from that he wasn't so bad was he?
|

By:
Well done Jack. played well, was well deserved

"It just wasn't meant to be for me," said Maguire. "Take nothing away from him, he made some great breaks all through the match
and luck favours the man who plays well and he played better than me. "I don't think he's the full shilling. I've never seen him before but there's definitely something missing. He seems like a really nice boy and very genuine. "The crowd seemed to take to him and got behind him at the end and he seemed to be enjoying it. "At the end it was a good break that he made. He plays very slow and he reminds me of Peter Ebdon. He's very similar. I was asking the referees, and that's his game. It works for him. "It's disappointing for me but I could tell the way the match was going. I had a bad feeling about it. I came out at 9-8 and I didn't really fancy it to be honest. "I'll have a pint and forget about it and move on to next season." |

"I don't think he's the full shilling. I've never seen him before but there's definitely something missing." what's he mean by that exactly? And I see he said he was very slow, maybe because I liked watching him I didn't notice the slow bit

No bet on the match but watched nearly all of it, have to admit I love Poomjaeng now and he may be fav snooker player around after that! Quality, really enjoyed it, had me laughing a good few times, nice to have someone with a bit of character and showing their emotions. Hope he goes far!

If Maguire did say that then he needs to learn a valuable lesson that confirmed cheats should not be passing derogatory opinion about other players. Esp one that he should be learning from about how to behave around a snooker table. Really off putting watching Ebdon, Carter and Maguire acting like kids when the run goes against them but like they are entitled to it when it goes their way.
Carter spent three frames shaking his head coz Ben had a couple of bad shots that landed safe and Carter then had some amazing run in the later frames. |

carters about the worst at getting upset.
right moody **** |

It was a brilliant match. Maguire was seething throughout and I think that affected his game.

Just looked at Poomjaeng's facebook page and on his recent activity I seen this
Dechawat changed Tactics (4-3-3) on Top Eleven Be a Football Manager. 8 minutes ago · LOL the guy is on facebook playing a football manager game after that!? Guy is mental alright |
|
By:
First time i have ever seen anyone play the jump shot ( actually it was more of a dam buster bounce shot ) and he played it in the final frame too. It was probably the only way he could get the cue ball out in the open.
|
|
By:
best memory ever on snooker for me when he was applauding himself in one of the earlier frames. great enjoyment well played, but bbc you are pathetic.
|
|
By:
Yes applauding himself was hilarious
.Don't think you can argue with what Maguire said afterwards, all seems spot on to me .Regards the shaking of the head after a bit of the running goes against them award,Carter wins that hands down, must annoying player on the circuit bar none.Hope Ronnie hammers him,13-3 be nice, unlikely though. Never thought i would be saying this, but tie of the 2nd round is Jack v M White . |

what a character, breath of fresh air

Maguire is the mental case between the two. This is the biggest tournament, he's not far behind his opponent in the score-line and he goes for hit-and-hope shots when snookered. He has only himself to blame and accusing Poomjaeng of slow play just shows he's such a bad loser. I don't think he even meant the good what he said about Dechawat. In case you wondered, yes I backed him. But that's not the point. Maguire and Carter seem to be the biggest c*nts on the tour. Maguire fought well but some of those impatient shots cost him. He was pushing the boat too much. That's the difference between him and Robertson, for example. Robertson in most cases plays the correct shot.

If that guy is 24 then whats he going to look like at thirty.
|
|
By:
he's 34 according to Wiki

By:
Tobermory,
That would be more like it, but only going on what somebody said on tv. He seems like somebody who has escaped from a 9 ball competition and only Maguire could get beat by him. Cant say I would sit down and watch him for 5-6 hours, not even for ten minutes really. But each to their own ![]() |
|
By:
Love the guy, brings a bit of emotion to the game.Applauding his own shot sealed the deal for me
. |
|
By:
Very amusing thread! Love this Poom guy and hope he continues to entertain with his antics. As many have already said, the game is devoid of characters and this fella certainly is one!

Poom can get to the semis by beating Michael White and 1 of Milkins/Walden now! Got a shot surely
|
|
By:
these bad players always go out the 2nd round.hes had his day and eventho hes probably favorite to go thru,i fully expect him to bow out 2nd round.hate seeing the top players go out and crap players going thru.really spoils the latter stages for me.wanted mcguire robbo and co still in it and they never made past round 1.only games ill be watching will be roonie/ding matches now and trumps too.robertson was woeful today.milkins gave him so many chances yet he took none.same can be said for maguire who then lost his head.shame really.
