Special NZ law number 14:

If a player realises his tryline is under serious threat and decides to blatantly cheat to prevent a try, it's a pen but not a yellow card.

Draw would be about fair. Neither team looked particularly likely to score a try, or at least create a try, maybe bundling over from a mistake was possible at times. NZ riding their luck, but England not quite enough cutting edge.

Owens to win it for NZ though.

what a patronising interview with robshaw who was the motm imo. i know we are all supposed to revere the all blacks but since the travesty of the last world cup final i'm getting a bit sick of their cynical play overshadowing the undoubted brilliance they show at times
Report RugbyMan June 7, 2014 10:38 AM BST
Nothing to revere about that performance. NZ were very average, kicked away everything, and kept getting decisions. Could be a different story next week, they are world number 1 for a reason, but it would be nice to hear it said that they were average and lucky when they are average and lucky.
Report northanlite June 7, 2014 10:41 AM BST
i seem to remember ireland pushing them all the way a couple of years back then getting spanked so caution advised but for a scratch England side that was very impressive

Is it the black shirts that make their misdemeanors invisible to refs?
Report curious-cat June 7, 2014 10:42 AM BST
Please will everyone write an essay entitled ...

'The All Blacks Are An X-Parrot'

Not more than 50 words.
Report RugbyMan June 7, 2014 10:43 AM BST
Yep, Ireland lost by 3 I think, but their heart had gone after that, made a few changes, and got whooped by 60 or so, but it was the last of a 3 match series, not the second game. Don't think that will be the case at all here, but clearly NZ should be better and England will make a lot of changes, which might not help.
Report curious-cat June 7, 2014 10:47 AM BST
I was out but spent most of the match listening to the radio commentary in my car.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVz2pqTDg9I

radio impressions were that Ben Morgan had an IMPRESSIVE game and that both sides made a lot of mistakes.

I did see the last 8 minutes though Grin
Report Ozymandius June 7, 2014 10:48 AM BST
Congrats England...impressive stuff for a weakened side.

Thought Youngs was slow to get to rucks and generally offered little.
Report RugbyMan June 7, 2014 10:54 AM BST
Care pulling out this week certainly didn't help. Used to be that Youngs looked more promising, but Care has gone streets ahead this past couple of years.
Report curious-cat June 7, 2014 10:58 AM BST
on the radio  Ian Robertson and some New Zealander, plus analysis and reaction from Mike Tindall in the studio.

Ian Robertson supported England and Owens and thought they were both great though the New Zealander frequently criticised Owens whenever a decision went against the All Blacks.

Strangely the former All Black criticised Owens for not letting the game flow while Robertson praised him for the opposite.

Report TheVis June 13, 2014 8:10 PM BST

I can remember it being 4's to lay at one stage and took a little but it never went much lower and then blew out again.
