Forget ref cam - having a real ref in the Sky box has been an excellent feature of this weekend.

Fair play to Wigan.

The only proper match of the weekend as it turned out.

the best  team won, wigan made fewer mistakes and lacked a bailey. however the McGuire try being disallowed, was on a par with the whiffy hull decision yesterday. that was not an obstruction, either technically(if you look at the direction of the wigan players movement, or in the spirit of the law)and in any other game would not have been looked at. if the refs are going to be picky why no sending off for the early shoulder charge? or no penalty for the soon  following play the balls ( or not)
leaves a bad taste
wtf is going on?

The Hull decision stands out on its own as a clear mistake and is not on the same level at all.

The Leeds one was called in the box by Cummings and the TMO also came to same conclusion, so I don't have a major issue with it.

I reckon this might have been the last "Magic" weekend. It must cost close to the gate receipts to hire the ground for 2 days, the chances of attracting sponsors must be damaged when they see one of the showpiece events in a stadium which is rarely more than a quarter full, and most of the matches were largely meaningless due the ridiculous structure of RL (at least they are supposedly doing something about that). What is the point of Salford v Widnes, or Leeds v Wigan for that matter. The only "interest" is around whther teams get in the top 8, and how interesting is that for most people. Not a lot.

Luckily we've got a refereeing decision to distract attention from the state of SL ....

Not sure, looked a healthy enough crowd.

Think it will be back next year.

I think just a couple of double headers in the summer, one in Manchester, one in Leeds might be a better way to go - similar to what RU does at the start of the season with the London clubs.  The whole MM weekend concept is looking a bit long winded and as a fan who has attended there is not really that much interest in sitting through 3 or 4 games back to back.  Even for the most die hard RL fans that is too long a stint.

As a punter, having seven matches to bet on live over the weekend was awesome and I wish we could have that every week!

Having attended for the first time this year, how anybody can crab the magic concept is beyond me? I watched 3 games on the Sunday and really enjoyed all of em. The standard and intensity clearly cranked up a notch for each game and it was a fantastic event. Havong watched on the television on the Staurday im amazed there wasnt larger disparity in the crowds each day?

There seemed to be significantly more there on Sunday than Saturday. The RFL sure makes mistakes but this isnt one of them. If the fans arent prepared to get behind it and turn up, maybe the game gets what it deserves. I reckon out of the 30000 that were there on Sunday half were Wigan fans even though the 5000 Leeds fans that were there made considerably more noise.

vis, if the video refs are going to technically super picky, when will they disallow tries that come from a scrum fed to second row?(which ridiculously is all of them) now that will be interesting to see.

The Hull/KR decision at the weekend was totally disgraceful.  You can forgive a ref on the pitch for giving a wrong decision but not a Video ref!  How could he have not seen it! Crazy It cost me and I'm still fuming now.  Even if I didn't have money on it I would still be angry.  The video ref should be demoted.  It was clearly offside as pointed out by the tators.  What was his thinking or logic Scared.  I'm not an expert on RL but even I could see it was offside! Ruined an otherwise good weekened.  No Magic for meAngry

£4.20 a pint (£3.60 for city home games), families been refused in with drinks and food (allowed last year). I won't be going again, I just hate been ripped off. Then again I'm a Wakey fan so no amount off field distractions could made it a good weekend.
