Afternoon lads. Great to be back. Interesting opener with both teams much changed from last season. I just think that the fervour and excitement of returning to SL might carry Widnes through tonight. Would be nice to get off to a good betting start as well !!!
Briscoe, Flynn and Watts missing for Widnes might explain a drift on their price. I'd be weary about backing any team with Ah Van in. Having said that I could say the same about Mathers with Wakey.

Who is going to get them any points out on the field though? That's a genuine question. Widnes look poor on paper and the man their season probably hangs on isnt in the 19.
I'm not saying that Wakey look world beaters though.

Agree RM Mathers is shocking in defence but he's ok going forward. Wakey have a couple of expirienced strike players in Aiton and Smith with a half decent 3/4 line. Only thing putting me of backing them is this new artificial pitch! God knows what thats going to do to the kicking game, something to focus on in running.

Can anyone confirm please whether it will be Ah Van kicking the 2-pointers for Widnes? Have a feeling Betts will be asking them to take whatever is on offer in a possible tight game.

Ah Van is first choice kicker with Craven, Haggerty and White as possible alternatives. Would have been confident of a Widnes win with Watts, Briscoe, Flynn and Davies in the side. Also Kite and Phelps yet to arrive.

Wrong cleats & watch them crash to the deck as they miss the cutbacks against the grain.
As for kicking, flat kick & the ball with keep rolling, so with the cold weather it'll be knock on season tonight

good to see widnes back in the big time,it`s been far to long, the league would be ideal if the pointless london broncos were given the boot and halifax brought back, they`ve been playing for 30 years in london now and it`s still not taken off i`ll be on the vikings tonight, home advantage and all that!

Draw looks a decent position to take at 30. Will not drift higher than that in running in my opinion until somebody breaks the 2 score ahead barrier and every chance we are sub 20 before HT.

What a start to the season for Ben Cockayne. 2 bombs and a knock-on.
Bit chaotic this, but plenty of scope for entertainment. Neither team likely to defend their line properly.

Great defence by Wakey and they follow it up with a try straight away.
Widnes really firing into everything, but they have a few daft players and are making too many errors.

I just can't think who they've added it for No sane gambler will take any notice of it,and any viewers just watching the game without a bet won't give a hoot about it anyway. It can only make it's self look stupid over the course of the season(They'll probably get it bang on tonight now I've said all that )

How the fugg are Wakey losing this? Widnes are totally inept at defending, the left handside is useless, and Wakey easily making 30 yards from the 1st 3 ptb's.

There's no need for any science, some fat bloke in a studio can just say "Widnes have had a lot of ball, therefore they will win by 12"
It sums up the superleague coverage entirely to have a random score generator as a way of selling the sport.

The longer they keep coming up with an odd number margin the more ridicule it deserves to get.
They would be better plumbing into BF and translating the odds and saying "Widnes are now 58% likely to win the game from here"

I'm with you Isotonic, I think that was a knock-on.
On the plus side the video ref has no idea, but has given a positive result, which I like. Too many tries chalked off for no good reason.

Taken Wakey a long time to prove it, but I think they have been, and are, the better team (although that may change when Widnes get some of their players back).
But with Mathers and Cockayne they can always give away some stupid tries.
