Wales better team by far, but absolutely criminal missed kick by Priestland in front of posts and equally criminal was going in early when Wales had a 5 metre scrum. Just lack of professionalism, which has long been the curse of Welsh teams. Roberts only looks half fit.

Incredibly Ireland are the same price now as they were before the game. While we could all see Wales were the better side, the tide has turned ans Warburton is now off injured. 1.5 Ireland maximum play now.
Wales had their chance and blew it up the spout. How many more chances did they expect away from home against an efficient side who surely cannot play any worse than they have and still find themselves 5 points up

Agree, Wales are losing this game themselves rather than Ireland winning it. Held up try over the line, blew 5 metre scrum, missed kick etc. Don't deserve anything on that performance.

yeah roberts looks off the pace, 1/2p getting a beating in the air from kearney, priestland place kicking all over the place
but the welsh backs running game looks brutal

We're seeing Priestland's true colours today. Looks a world beater when his pack give him an armchair ride, but he's a total bottler when the pressure is on.

Yes, he's ignored both ballaman. Both looked very intentional to me.
Some massive errors by O'Connell and Murray costing Ireland. They could really be out of sight by now.

Has a touch judge ever recommended a red in the history of rugby?
They are all referees and should know the laws.
If anyone thinks that that isn't worse than the Warburton one they should get their head tested. Clearest ever red card.

Brad Davies's face showed disgust, so as far as he was concerned, the 'tackle' was ok!
I cannot ever recall a linesman calling a red card though.
I guess that as the incident was 'pnished' on the field. then that is the end of the matter?

That may well be the case Freshy, which adds extra farce to proceedings. I've seen about 8 or 9 of those since the Warburton one and only 1 red card. At least 2 have been very obviously worse offences.

That ones a hell of a lot closer to legal, but there is still a lifting motion by Ferris so he has been pretty stupid. Ridiculous that both get the same sanction.
So in the end Dave Pearson's uselessness has cost Ireland. That and the fact that Ireland fluffed it.

You have to take the touch judges word really. Just like the Bryce Lawrence thing with Schalk Burger. Sees a gouge, reports a gouge, says it's "at least a yellow". Touch judges just refuse to advise reds.

Pen at the end was prob right, but never a yellow, not that that mattered, what was more worrying is how easily wales got from their own 22 to the irish 22. poor display from ireland to be honest, had the game sown up and plucked defeat from the jaws of victory.
cant see why in the world we went for the 3 points when it was on the outeredge of sextons range and for the life of me i dont understand why ogara and reddan come on with 3 mins to go .
very disappointing tbh

It was not even a penalty at the end, however, despite that, I think that Wales deserved it, & are a cut above the French, & with a tight five that was cobbled together, they are the real deal.

Freshy - I think for my thoughts you may as well read ballaman's post below. It wasn't a terrible tackle by Ferris, but enough under the laws to be a pen. Yellow card both pointless and a bit daft bearing in mind Davies' tackle.
Same as yesterday, the losing team can have issues with the officials, but in the end they both cost themseleves the win through errors and poor decisions.

After some losses on the football earlier, I am now £300+ up for the day. I took the gamble until the end and it paid off, not once when we Wales were 8 points behind did I consider laying it off.

Wales right now, are playing a very good brand of rugby, they always seem to cross the gain line, which I cant see any other team in the Six Nations living with.

they traded at at least 11 for a while, quite possibly higher, i wasn't taking to much notice though, that was a head in hands moment until the last kick lol

I should say I didn't take those odds when they were 8 points down, I took a pre-match bet with a bit of trading but for the most part I held the liability.

George North is a bit of a beast. Put D'Arcy on his @rsey, before an exquisite back of the hand pass to see Davies away for his try. Power and finesse in one movement.

TheVis 05 Feb 12 13:50 ITCB - perhaps provincially it's the non-Irish players that finish the teams off nicely whereas in Wales it's the non Welsh that just haven't been good enough
Well it's a theory and most of the Irish imports are very good. Don't think it is the main issue though.
For the Welsh payers coming into the National Camp, its a real step up for them. Better coaching, more upbeat, more ambition. For several Irish players, in essence the Leinster contingent, joining up with Ireland is like a return to the Dark Ages. Even the Munster Players must be sick to death of listening to Uncle Decco; some of them have had him coaching them since they were kids!
How many times today did you see Sexton and Kearney resort to the garryowen? Far more often that they would in a blue shirt, that's for sure. That's a key difference in direction between the likes of Schmidt and Kidney.
Ok, Kiddo got us over the line in his first year by our fingertips. That was the awful year when the laws favoured catch and kick. Perfect for the way he likes to play. The laws have thankfully moved on and season by season Ireland have regressed under his stewardship. Australia in the RWC was an anomoly and a one off.We frustrated Australia with magnificant defence and we didnt need to create anything to win.
Yet nobody says a word because Decco is one of the good guys. Very humble etc. Never gives anyone any ammunition to go after him. But for how much longer?
I don't want to overreact because today we got beaten by a very good side. But we have been in decline for too many seasons now. I really hope we can go to NZ in the Summer with a new fresh modern coach.

We'll know a hell of a lot more after next week. I shall be hoping the French hype machine gets into gear after what was a fairly laboured win over Italy I thought.
