I POSTED THIS ON THE HORSE RACING FORUM......

The passing of this forum is a sad event. It was a proper social club for many years.
I turned it in once the bots and trolls got involved (particularly one paid activist), and innocuous posts were being removed, and the forum was outsourced.

The Quizzes and those involved were amazing.
We had a few little get-togethers and 1000's of people used the site more because the forum was on so many screens.

I made (and lost Sad) good friends on here (especially Nick [campoisgod), Tony [pumphol], Dom [Muntz Street]), may they RIP.

I had the pleasure of running some (if I say so myself) very good competitions on big sporting events, which BF even supported and gave prizes for. They often had many hundreds of entries. Special mention for "Mr Nibbs" who helped so much with the Excel pages I could only dream about putting together which enabled me to run them

I have nothing but admiration for the original BF in setting up a fantastic platform and amazing Forum with SO many sections and so much interest.
I have nothing but disdain for those in the "new" BF for their gradual destruction of it.

To all my friends on here who might read this - my 1st post in a couple of years:
It was a pleasure

I was just talking to my Mrs about it (I even met HER on here). It was all fun. Hours a night on quizzes, sharing advice, recipes, tips, jokes, competitions, and so much more. For years. And then it wasn't. Obsessions, trolling and bots took over. Even though it was fixable, the organisation BF farmed the forum out to wouldn't listen to how to stop the rot. There really was a solution, but they weren't interested.

I worked for and with Nick on racecourses all over the country because of the forum Everything from the Derby, Festival, Goodwood, R. Ascot, etc to a freezing Wednesday night at Wolverhampton.
We were pitched up right at the winning post when McCoy won on Don't Push It, and as the horse turned, after the race to parade in front of the stands it crapped, loads, right in front of us. I asked him for a couple of money sacks so I could pick some up. I wanted to sell to sell it on ebay. Grand National winner poop for the roses.
He wouldn't let me have any.

having not been on here for some time, sadly, because of the changes that ruined the place.
I'm not aware of know who else we lost?
I knew about clungehungry and the three I mentioned. We're all getting older and 20 odd years on it shouldn't be a surprise, but it's still sad.

If I'm reading this right, you met someone on these forums and married her?

That is fantastic.

As I mentioned previously ITT, I've had many incredible and wow! real life adventures directly as a result of the BF forums, but marrying someone you first met on this forum, Thats a wow wow wowee.

Best of luck to you both.

without going through it again

THIS IS PURELY AN ATTACK ON FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND PRIVACY

forums are being shut down all over the web
redirection, eventually to identity related forums

The west will exist on a new system of surveillance capitalism, unsound money (perma inflation in necessities) and hijacked supply chains.

any questions ?

With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied—chains us all irrevocably. Aaron Satie knew what was going on.

Only just caught up on this. Great to hear from you again Studyform. The old days on here were the business no doubt. Great quizzes and chat. Used to love to spend an hour or so in the chit chat pub. Sorely missed. HGS, (HallGreenSpy).
