Done one as a test ,  there is a lot to setting it up , and depending on how many Joined would need a few Admins

but would be similar to Here ,  Getting someone to commit to running it would not be easy ...

Peak gormley was absolutely brilliant. We were practically dominating the special markets at that time. Plenty of successful gamblers, sharing insight et al. But not much stays the same, bookies stopped taking bets so people started looking after themselves, fighting over much smaller pies, and it was infected by champagne socialists (we have a sub board for politics). I've not posted on there for a few years, only log in very occasionally to look back at some research I posted.

I like how the new prediction sites have a comment section next to the market. Keeps discussion largely to the topic in hand and is a good source for info and generating activity.

I've been wondering what the barriers would be to setting up a prediction markets/sports exchange in the UK would be.

The predictions market model is more akin to the early days of flutter where the users can create a market which seems to have some advantages for the model over a purely business owner choice of markets.

I think I read they would need to be regulated by the financial body because of certain markets and options they offer, rather than the gambling commission like Betfair. It sounds like setting one up in the UK, if only to sell to Kalshi or Poly in a few years might be a good idea.

I like how you can see that someone has £500K on a position and you can discuss with them in the comment section what they're thinking.

Nobby wants to belong to an echo chamber of a forum along with the other members of the Festering Four no doubt.

In which case Nobby is likely to be an absentee from his own forum Laugh

Like many on here, when "The End" was announced, my reaction was along the lines of "No suprise, the writing has been on the wall a long time".

After a few days it dawned on me just how incredibly fantastic the adventures I had had over the last 22 years that were a direct
result of the betfair forums, and "The End" is literally the end of a 22 year long book full of real life adventures.

Most on here are recreational gamblers and primarily use the forum to chat to and insult other gamblers, when this is gone thay'll just move on and forget about it pretty soon.
But for me, it lead to so many interesting projects with interesting people, all the way to the very very top echelon of the sportsbetting ecosystem. And most of those adventures and experiences started on, and would not have happened without, the betfair forums.

In a way, I am also a recreational gambler, I do it because I love the puzzle of "What does it take to win at this (or that) game?", Then it became more that just a hobby, it became a passion which turned into a serries of adventures, many of which started on the betfair forums.

As I sit here reminiscing down memory lane, it's tempting to mention some of these adventures, but some of them are so epic I would be accused of bigging myself up and fantasising.

Long after this forum is gone, memories of my adventures will pop into my head that will make me grin from ear to ear.

It's been fantastic.

Good luck to all, and in the imortal words of Douglas Adams "Thanks for all the fish"

Despite all the harsh words spoken on this forum it is amazing to me how all the honest punters have pulled together to find a solution. If Picard was still around he would say we are like Darmok and Jalad on the ocean.

In the words of the great James Douglas Morrison :

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes again

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end, it hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
This is the end
