This case and the EL Carroll case demonstrate very clearly how important the statute of limitations is which we don't have in this country. There is an argument that it should allow a generous amount of time for cases to be brought but 30 years later seems excessive.

There was no SOL in the Carroll case because it was temporarily removed for New York State and restored again after her case but that case would normally have been statute barred. There are very good reasons for having an SOL, it deters bad actors from bringing cases for political reasons.
