So let's get the facts straight, a 65 yr old man, still two years short of retirement, wheelchair bound, finds life pretty hard, gets his PIP which at least helps some. When regorm get in they will happily take their PIP away. Do they have any idea of the suicides this will cause? But that's ok I suppose, more money for their rich pals.

Have they given more money to the feckless as your nightmares keep telling you they will? In October 2024 the number of UC claimants was 7.2m. By October 2025 this had risen to 8.3m (partly due to those on legacy benefits moving to UC) The proportion of those with "no work requirements" was 49 per cent and rising ![]() |

Labour are after the redistribution of wealth, from those who work for a living, to those who don't, marvellous.

Escapee. All they have to do is say to these wasters, if you don't accept the apprenticeship you won't get any money from taxpayers.
What kind of system needs to pay families a £4.5K bung to encourage their kids to do some work. And if you think they won't skip the apprenticeship once the cash has been paid out, you really do need your bumps felt. |

If people aren't motivated by their upbringing, or wanting to improve themselves and pride, the need to be motivated by needing to eat and have smartphones etc.
The system that the establishment have deliberately created is people can opt out of working completely, and enjoy a very comfortable lifestyle. More comfortable than the people funding it. |

A total of 9,627 people receive the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in the Clacton parliamentary constituency.
This accounts for approximately 18% of the working-age population in the area, representing roughly two out of every 11 working-age residents. Key Details Number of Claimants: 9,627 residents Percentage of Working-Age Population: 18% (more than double the national average)Local Context: Clacton holds the highest proportion of PIP claimants of any constituency in Essex and ranks among the highest rates nationwide. Yeah, one lady on news said she was voting for refuk in Clacton, because it took so long to get her pip claim sorted... |

If you are an existing claimant it won't effect you, it only applies to new claimants is how I read it.

Just watching Jenrick give the press conference.
Most of it is vote winning stuff about the feckless, but there was a brief bit about help for businesses, and there was a line about removing Labour's blocks on companies employing foreign workers. No details, but it sure sounded like reform wanted to increase immigration to benefit bussiness!? Farage no where to be seen at the press conference, has he talked to the press since his huge win against a dustbin? How long will he stay in hiding in fear of press questions? |

Got to admire the chutzpah of someone completely ignoring the prime minister avoiding questions for months, moaning about a 'missing' MP for a party that has no power, not even the offician opposition

you just make stuff up to deflect.
Anyway, I'm not partisan, so of course I was all over starmer avoiding questions for months and his increasingly unbelieveable claims of ignorance. You'll find plenty of my post's calling out starmer as I call out any polititian who deserves calling out for their actions in this thread https://community.betfair.com/politics/go/thread/view/94150/31900195/will-epstein-bring-down-starmer-markets I'm non partisan, I get to call out ALL politicians, many on here are cultists and instead of calling out all dubious politicians, they have to cringe and squirm and defend pdfiles and crypto spivs. so I say again:

I forgive you for not noticing, Andy Burnham is the prime minister.

The plan is to protect him until late September. Let me know if he takes unscripted live questions from people who might challenge him before the middle of September.

|
By:
I expect him to get a free pass until the labour conference. where he will be welcomed as if he has won an election.

Good luck with that, silly way to lead a life imho, but hey ho. Another absolute zinger from someone who spends half his time posting unhinged carp on an anonymous forum himself. But he's non partisan dontcha know. No doubt "mother" told him so, eh Norman ? ![]() |

Jenrick says it isn't fair on the British taxpayer as one sixth claiming are not British,is it fair on non British tax payers if they are exempt from claiming, matter of fact should non British tax payers be taxed at all under Jenricks own argument?
|

Irish can and do claim, for a start. There are plenty more.

It's there for all to see
If you’re not a British citizen You must: normally live in or show that you intend to settle in the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands not be subject to immigration control (unless you’re a sponsored immigrant) If you’re from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, you and your family usually also need settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme to get PIP. The deadline to apply to the scheme was 30 June 2021 for most people, but you might still be able to apply. Check if you can still apply to the EU Settlement Scheme. You might still be able to get PIP if you’re a refugee or have humanitarian protection status. |
|
By:
If they are ineligible for UC/PIP surely a tax paying migrant shouldn't be taxed to reflect their non qualifying position for these or at least taxed at a much reduced rate?
|
|
By:
It might surprise you to hear that most people working full time are not on PIP. For now.
|
|
By:
I was talking about Jenricks claims this morning in the news re UC.

Do you need to pay US taxes?
All US citizens and permanent residents (green card holders) must pay US taxes and file a US tax return whether they live in the US or not. In general, the controlling principle is that US tax resident aliens are taxed like US citizens. |
|
By:
If they aren't eligible for UC/PIP despite paying tax surely they shouldn't be paying tax or at least on a much reduced rate?
|
|
By:
It is pretty normal as far as I am aware, for people living in other countries via work permits pay the local income taxes. Not something I have investigated. I would be willing to bet, British nationals wouldn't get the equivalent of UC or PIP in the US. Doubtful if the US has the equivalent of PIP or UC for anyone.
|
|
By:
I think it would be REALLY weird personally, to go to another country and expect to get handouts, and/or pay less tax than my colleagues.
It would be REALLY REALLY weird, if I went there illegally. |
|
By:
It seems as if Jenrick is saying to me(source BBC Reform benefit ban for foreign nationals) would put someone who has worked and paid tax for 40 years unable to claim UC because they are 'foreign'
Am i correct on my take of that piece and do you think it is morally right? |
|
By:
No idea I don't look at the bbc.
After 40 years here, why are they still 'foreign' ? |

Jenrick Says Long Term Benfitters who are fit
Will need to work 20 hours a week for their Community Welfare to Work Scheme ![]() |

A completely sensible idea is that Nanny.
A few years back i had to visit the job centre for a time when waiting for a new contract to start, and i suggested pretty much the same to the bod behind the desk. Why don't you make people who have been signing on for ages do some community work ? answer given was, ooh we can't do that it would be against their human rights ![]() |

All a bit pointless anyway, it'll be tory or labour in charge in 2029.

Sounds pretty unfair if I’m picking this up correctly and probably contrary to targeting scrongers
A. Somebody who does minimal work ever but is entitled to benefits if no job. If he is English B. A foreign national who has worked hard for 10 years paid tax and other contributions unfortunately loses his job, gets nothing. That seems unfair and pretty bizarre. Hopefully I have picked that up wrong. |
|
By:
Why is a foreign national a foreign national after 10 years? Either your going to stay in Britain or only in Britain to work. If staying, become British. If only here for work, get a job, or return home.
I struggle with the logic of someone who wants to live in a country that they don't call their home. |
|
By:
Pick a side, basically. There are millions of people in Britain who don't consider themselves British, or even hate it. Sure, those people can still gain citizenship, but at least they will have made an effort.
|
|
By:
So you would want Hans from Germany to become British?
|
|
By:
Everybody is entitled to their opinion, I just find that policy strange.
I certainly wouldn’t give them money if they hadn’t worked but if they had worked for ten years, gets nothing but a scrounger who flys a Union Jack gets everything, I find that weird but as I say everybody is entitled to their opinion. |
