it should be a resigning matter but such are the standards in politics today starmer will just try and ignore it and carry on regardless.

Mandelson not sacked for stuff starmer knew.

He shouldn't have been appointed, but would still be
in place had he not been accused of passing privileged
information to somebody.

Maybe they should all be sacked over this, including farrage
who thought he was an excellent appointment despite being
a mate of epstein too.

They all  knew, George Clarke another one in same circles

No.10 now saying the decision to ignore the vetting failure was taken by a Foreign Office official and neither Lammy nor Starmer knew until earlier this week!

It is unbelievable this info wasn't passed to Lammy and from Lammy on to Starmer.

Arguably the most important Ambassador role and Starmer thinks it is believable he neither asked or was told the result of the vetting .

Starmer knew, but thought he could get away with it. How many more F*** ups will he be involved in before the party acts.

The most senior official at the Foreign Office is leaving his post, after the decision to fail Lord Mandelson's security vetting for the role of US ambassador was overruled by his department.

Its comical TBH

Does this Olly Robins, the most senior civil servant at the Foreign Office, not speak to this then boss David Lammy?

No wonder the government is a shambles.

Starmer should have known about Mandelson's behaviour under the Blair Government never mind what he was up to with Epstein so any vetting should have been unnecessary. Mandelson was not suitable to be an MP never mind a minister or an Ambassador. It creates doubt about not only the Government and the Prime Minister but about the Security Services. Did they not have Mandelson watched?

They've tied themselves up in knots since taking office, but this is on another level. We kind of new it before but now it's thoroughly exposed that the civil service are batting for the liberalists. Unfortunately it broken beyond repair, the blob are captured at all levels, plus of course, the legacy broadcast media. Even this latest fudge was timed to give Starmer a few days to prepare more lies.

Only one positive, they didn't get away with cancelling next months elections (yet another scandal!). And we ought to see the annihilation of the labour project.

However the rot is so deep, we can't even have absolute faith that they will be operated fairly.

The FO have not informed number 10 that that the man they are making US AMBASSADOR  failed vetting  ,incredulous does not cover it

Why have they not informed Starmer , That's Starmers problem imo ,  Mcsweeney and Robins thrown under the Bus  , that Lammy or Starmer

never knew is no excuse ,one of them should have known or made it their business to know , its impossible one of them would not know

we are being fed total pony ..

Not supporting starmer in any shape or form but why did CIA or FBI approve Mandelson to be Brit ambassador to visit USA on serious business in USA
These people I assume knew everything about Epstein and his associates, very strange cos I have visited USA and it’s tight loads of questions asked
By:
MALAY
When: 17 Apr 26 14:46
It’s quite a responsible position this and must have been agreed with USA and I’m surprised that starmer had not been informed that there was a potential issue either by his own team or USA agents
Seems very strange

Why did Mandelson fail vetting?

Developed vetting is said to be a highly personal process. It's unlikely we will see full details of the questions asked and answers given. But will the public be told what the concerns were?

Why were those concerns overruled?

Why did officials in the Foreign Office make the decision to go ahead with the appointment? Mandelson had already been announced - would it have been too embarrassing to cancel it? Or were mitigations found to address the concerns? At the moment, we simply don't know.

Surely starmer needs to answer these on Monday,... Or go.

Starmer might want to claim asylum in France rather than come back.  Have they found the missing phone yet? the one alledgedly taken by the untraceable and invisible black man? Labour happy to use a racial stereotype when it suits them.
