So the problems are that the UK is struggling economically, slow growth, high inflation, high national debt,  cost-of-living crisis, high energy prices and strained public finances.

These issues have resulted in many households struggling to live on their income, even as inflation has eased somewhat from its peak.

A Crucial budget and I cant see her being very popular after it !

When did dole make a comeback?
Half of Britain’s transport infrastructure was built by Irish graft.  You should be grateful.

The 'milkshake tax' in theory i should be with but the problem to me is 'good' food is expensive generally and the cheaper stuff is to blame with the results of a poor diet very evident. Maybe some wans can get the fat jab on the NHS but not the answer. The tax should have been on pies and pizza.
Disappointing if the cash ISA is touched on the basis of trying to move some into share ISAs, don't think the figure will bring in too much (maybe £60 on the £8k cut from £20k?)

I don't think the isa allowance cut produces any net tax gain
to government worth talking about.

You can still save a grand a month tax free in cash, and
another 2 grand nearly into a share isa, but can keep cash
in that at 4% currently. If you are saving 3k a month
you are doing well!

She's apparently trying to encourage investment into
shares and away from cash.

See what detail there is around cash held in share isa...

Over 65s are exempt from being forced to indulge in gambling in shares to make use of their ISA allowance. What I still find extraordinary about the whole budget (so far) is that most of it only comes into affect in 2028 or later. What use is that when the country needs more money coming in tomorrow or at the latest April 2026 to avoid meltdown?

This does seem ho be heavily influenced by backbenchers.

Doesn’t look like a budget for growth, a lot more tax and spend .

Not sure how this helps Labour.

Her statement on gambling tax was ambiguous. She said that remote gambling (internet) would rise to 25% but on horse racing no change. Does she mean betting on course only or all horse betting?

So gambling on Bingo and the National Lottery will be encouraged even more. Great way to reduce poverty. The only way to ensure that children get fed properly is to deliver the food directly to the door and even then some people would sell it on.

I think she said "In person betting on Horse racing, no change".

a raise from 15% to 25% on internet gambling (I think that is levied on company turn over, not individual bets)

Not sure how that will affect exchange betting, but I'm concerned.

I think your obsession with party politics means the light hearted, carry-on film style ("ooh, er, missus") double-entendre nature of my 15:06 post, went straight over your head. Whoosh!

Admittedly, it wasn't terribly funny - but maybe a sign that you need to take the blinkers off and lighten up a bit.

If the chubby ones want to drink milkshakes, it's their business. I fekn despair that government
sees fit to interfere.

It's about time politicians actually started cutting the welfare bills. It's criminal that they've
infantilised the poor by making them dependent on handouts, and then increased them to a level where
getting back into work means a cut in income.
By:
