Parents to be fined if kids miss tory conscription

Bring back the birch and be done with it.

Exclusive: Rishi Sunak is considering requiring future applicants for public sector jobs to have completed National Service
It’s one of the enforcement options that would go to the Royal Commission for consideration if he gets to enact the policy |
By:
Of course migrants wouldn't have to do national service
Just brits... |
By:
This reminds me of this clip from BBC QT : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWbwIwAhsYw
LOL The Torys/Labour love enticing young morons into the armed forces. When the idiots come home with their legs and arms missing, its seems the Torys/Labour don't want to know LOL Look at the clown at the end. Forget about armed forces, get a big red nose some white make up and you can join the circus.... Circus/British armed forces....Same thing I suppose. |

Why not just make 100 hours of charity work a previso of taking any A Levels
By:
The point of volunteer work is that it's done by volunteers.
It's nice to give something back, but I was too busy enjoying myself in my youth. |
By:
To be born in the UK is like winning the lottery. There is no reason why we shouldn't ask kids to do some charity work. Make them learn about kindness and helping those less fortunate than themselves.

To be born in the UK is like winning the lottery.
and the jackpot prize is universal credit ![]() |
By:
They can do charity work now.
As can you and I. It should be voluntary, and it should be to suit both parties, the charity and the volunteer. |
By:
When I volunteered at Durham cathedral I had to do
numerous training courses, most of which I could have run for them at no cost. They have hundreds of volunteers, all needing induction into the system, and I'm guessing they pais top dollar to get us inducted to fit in with modern requirements. Not much point if volunteer isn't interested in helping out. |
By:
Paid top dollar
By:
Just make a single CBT package for any charity based H&S.
By:
Why should kids do charity work?
What would our generatio say, the one that has fceked things up if we were told every weekend for a year we would have to do charitable work……. The second word would be off! |
By:
This is the UK economy. Even in big corporations they have youngsters working for free ffs
By:
Kids want to be paid, to earn cash to spend.
Surely charity work interferes with that. It's why so many can do charity or other volunteer work when they are older. Self sufficient and time rich. |
By:
Starmer doesn’t seem to want to do anything
that might take a bit of effort or means he’s going to have to exert himself does he ? |
By:
Kids need to learn to be good and functional members of society. A society that gifts them so much. Free healthcare, free education, rights, law and order. Doing a little charity work should be party of their education.
By:
Yeah, kids in families up to necks in debt, prevented from
earning because they are doing charity work. There are other ways they can learn to be good citizens. Likely they are better citizens in a more balanced society than we currently have. |
By:
Starmer wants a better society than we have
ended up in after 14 years of tory filling pockets of themselves and donors, and austerity for the people |
By:
**** me.
People from all over the world risking their lives to get to the UK but somehow asking kids born here to do a few weeks of charity work.... |
By:
By:
Why don't we ask everyone on Universal Credit to do voluntary charity work if they wish to be paid their benefits? Currently, if you are on Universal Credit and you wish to do charity work, it doesn't count as far as Work and Pensions are concerned.
By:
Why are we paying people to work two days a week while people who work full time are struggling to pay mortgage or rent or buy their kids clothes?
Another thing shirley we all have in common is to cut down on scroungers and cut back on waste. |
By:
The scroungers hide behind health issues.
All sick pay needs to be time limited and there need to be professional panels accessing people's health not overworked GPs. |
By:
Charity work LOL
All these charities are scams ffs. ^ Tory voters using all 3 of their brains cells above ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Typical Torys.....they want you to work for free. Slavery is a Tory policy now. |
By:
How many experts to we need to recruit and pay for
to manage the 2million odd claiming sick pay? Where will they come from? Clearly some folk are gaming the system but will the savings be cost effective? |
By:
Do we need
By:
If you don't have effective checks and balances on FREE MONEY then expect that system to be massively abused.
By:
Of course, but why is it not already effectively checked
and operated within reasonable bounds? |
By:
We all know when it comes to the public purse this government has been woefully incompetent.

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/national-service-conscription-army-navy-raf-teenagers-b2552740.html
.. National service would only be a hindrance to our already depleted Armed Forces Rather than enhancing our defence capability, Rishi Sunak’s plan to conscript untrained youngsters would only reduce it further, says Admiral Lord West |
By:
Khhh so tedious and unoriginal from noblets ..
By:
It’s a bit unrealistic to expect teenagers
to do a year of national service when today Sunak couldn’t do a full day of it. |
By:
Very fair and relevant point.
By:
Sunak has made some howlers but this latest one has to be right up there as one of the worst, if not the worst. If he wishes to turn off the majority of the traditional white, elderly Conservative voters, he is going about it the right way.
By:
He's having a car crash on sky right now

People should judge me by my actions....
Whilst apologising and parroting bollox. |
