I'm not doing too bad here brentford. Now 26.5 degrees in here and has hit 30 outside. The problem, as you rightly say, that once trapped it isn't so easy to expel.

This is what is currently going on in Ireland and across the rest of the World. It's all about the science apparently. No wonder the Dutch farmers are protesting
Minister for the Environment Eamon Ryan has said legally binding targets for emissions cuts will be signed off on before the end of the month. He said the targets were set by scientists who have said "if we want to stop the world burning, if we want to stop what's happening this week becoming an everyday occurrence, then these are the changes you have to make". "It's not coming from ourselves, it's coming from what the scientists say we have to do,". Mr Ryan said that some of the measures envisaged will involving reducing the number of cattle. |

when was this idea of human impacted global warming first proffered?
|
|
By:
I first heard about it in any detail around 1990. I was was working in a technical capacity at a multinational chemical company and one of our Dutch colleagues came over and gave a presentation. It wasn't the doomsday hysteria we see now, just a basic theory of potential harm from carbon dioxide emissions.

nah man, they were on it in the mid to late 19th century. Almost as soon as the industial revolution started
weather watchers noticed strange reasults in local temperatures during high levels of industry emissions. acid rain was first identified in 1852 ffs. this stuff is not new. maybe we are all being lied to, maybe it is about who's lies we want to believe. history like that is recored tho |

You never hear thunderberg or the like condemning chemtrails though.

Are those the trails of chemicals that T-H-E-Y spray upon the population to make them paranoid and stupid?

Not one plank in the media remembers that a guy died when he dived straight into a lake and it stopped his heart (permanently!!!).One newsman said that go in slowly as "jumping straight in can take your breathe away ",yeah right !!!.
|
|
By:
what's your point caller ?
|
|
By:
Jumping straight in can cause a shock, hot to cold is damgerous esp if your dehydrated and tired
But itd be bad luck for that to happen still, 1 in 1 million chance |
|
By:
yep, I get that sonts' (and I do somewhat agree with you re the ridiculous hysteria in the media)
just wasn't sure what pipe was blaming the media for specifically (I confess I haven't read all 5 pages) |

simple fix, live too far north for it to be an issue. warm already, high of 26 expected, lovely.
stay safe in the hot stuff folks. i used to work in africa right on the equator, where it does not get as hot as one might expect but has its moments, and a cool press on the back of the neck works wonders. Cold towel with ice water, maybe some ice wrapped in the towel. also on the wrists is good, anywhere you can cool the blood. the ice on the neck kids the brain into thinking it is cooler that it is so regulates the heart. this stuff is no joke, heat stroke can be as dangerous as hypothermia and we take that s**t seroiusly. it is just we see way more of that than heat stroke |

Putting a large dish of water in the garden for birds and hedgehogs is a helpful thing to do. Suet pellets, especially the pink ones will bring the hedgehogs, they can smell em 50 yards away.

The only reason it may 'officially' hit 40 in London is because of the sheer number of people and buildings absorbing the sun

I’m lying on my bed looking at a digital thermostat reading of 52. Damn! I take it back, Greta Thunberg was right, we’re all doomed and everything is going to…
Oh, no, hang on, it’s upside down. Crisis averted. |

Just to add to the point above about buildings, etc - this is another reason for flooding in certain areas. Too much concrete and nowhere for the rain water to run. It's the same rain fall we had years ago but there was more green areas than now in the town centres. The water could be absorbed or drains not blocked with crap.

Not sure how accurate my indoor temp is, but is saying 27.2 with outside at 34 (windows and blinds shut). Yesterday hit a high of 32 and 27.3 indoors; I slept ok though after throwing water all over my head, just the once before hitting the sack. Just popped to a local shop and it felt quite cool walking back indoors. Regardless of scaremongering, it is still bloody hot out there; I wouldn't want to work in it.
