Analyst acquitted at trial over discredited Trump dossier

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — A jury on Tuesday acquitted a think tank analyst accused of lying to the FBI about his role in the creation of a discredited dossier about former President Donald Trump.

The case against Igor Danchenko was the third and possibly final case brought by Special Counsel John Durham as part of his probe into how the FBI conducted its own investigation into allegations of collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

The first two cases ended in an acquittal and a guilty plea with a sentence of probation.

Danchenko betrayed no emotion as the verdict was read. His wife wiped away tears after the clerk read the final “not guilty” to the four counts he faced.

First off when the GOP takes the house and probably the senate before all you Trumpets start shouting how great he is should know a few figures. For the GOP to perform averagely they would take the house by 27 and the senate by 4 so anything less than that can be seen to be a failure. Add in that the GOP is favoured in the house by about 5 (if the same election was held with the new boundaries they would gain 5 in other words) add in Bidens ratings and they should be taking the house by approaching 50 seats and the senate by 7-8 if not more.
I know virtually all of you Trumpets have practically no knowledge of US politics pre 2016 but I can't help that. Look what happened when the GOP/Tea party took 60 odd against Obama when he had positive ratings, they got virtually nothing achieved with infighting ideologies not giving way. Personally I hope the gop gets a maj of about 30 so they can attempt to enact whatever it is they say they stand for. Let then invetsugate Bidens handing of covid but not Trumps, let them investigate Bidnes withdrawal from Afgh but not the mess that Trump left him and best of all let them fight amongst themselves, not being able to enact any policy because they don't know what the hell they want they just know they don't want Dems.
Please enlighten me on any policy at all that anyone on here thinks the GOP will enact, what are GOP people actually voting for?

Their dream is to turn the country into a GQP dictatorship where they remain in power forever. Trump idolises the likes of Putin an Xi and wishes he could do the same.

so if, as seems likely, the reps win both houses and trump runs in 2024 and loses, as polling right now suggests he would,
then there is no way he will accept it and his minions will go along with it and just declare him the victor.
it will get very messy imo

Fester is miles behind and if they lose that then it's over
That's the only seat they have a sniff of flipping
Then they have to hold all of these
GA
NH
AZ

AZ and NH are tossups with walker several points ahead in GA

Then there are a few more R flips on the cards Washington and Colorado

With the polls indicating a strong GOP performance I’d surely need to be a fool to back any of the Democratic positions. Given the GOP performance in Virginia last November then a reddish wave was to be expected with the generic poll giving the GOP a  2.5% lead in mid May which given the normal pre-election spending by the GOP in the run-up to the election would be expected to grow.

But that was overturned by the Roe v Wade supreme court decision which turned that around giving the Dems a lead in the generic ballot, but in the last two weeks the GOP have managed to regain a 1.5% lead.

For a perspective, in the 2018 mid-terms the Dems had an 8.7% lead which gave rise to that years blue wave, which should temper red wave expectations.

There is a second factor which may effect this years mid-term, and that is the turnout composition and whether women will come out in greater numbers than many polls are predicting. Most polls seem to predict that women will compose around 50% to 52% of voters. If women vote at a higher rate than expected that may well effect some of the closely matched senate races.

In the Kansas primary which had the abortion ballot question 55.8% of those who voted were women as opposed to the 2018 primary where women made up 52.9. That’s almost 3% higher and if we get anywhere near that in key battleground states then the polls could be off by just enough to see the Dems retain the 50/50 split in the senate.

So I’ve had a bet on the Dems in the Senate for Nevada. I managed 3.79 average when the early votes seemed to greatly favour the GOP – now  it’s a little shorter.

To retain the 50/50 split in the senate the Dems need to hold 4 of the 5 most competitive states. They should hold New Hampshire and Arizona, Nevada is a toss-up which they must win. Then they have to either take Pennsylvania or hold Georgia. It’s a big ask, but 4.3 to retain the no majority looks the best value to me – but I expect I’ll end up with egg on my face like many a fool.
