PorcupineorPineapple

The correct answer though, even if it straddles the boundaries between rock and good pop is Yes by McAlmont & Butler

Saw macalmont at Newcastle City Hall.

He was supporting cyndi lauper, he was very good.

He came back onstage to duet with her on "time
after time"

First time they met my mate said 'nice'dress', the furious glare from McAlmont almost felled him, it was a '****g gown, not a dress'.

Giuseppe citing Country House - Blur as a rock is baffling, has no rock credentials whatsoever, pure pop and crap with it.

Mention of the Boomtown Rats earlier..... they may not necessarily have composed/performed The Greatest Rock Song ever, but I have to say their 1978 album "A Tonic For The Troops' is still a joy to listen to. Ten irresistible tunes with good lyrics and noticably smart backing vocals, "Blind Date" to "Rat Trap".
