Who could have guessed that playing politics to "save Christmas" and encourage everyone to mingle at the height of an epidemic would lead to so many cases???

How do you explain record deaths in Scotland.

Amazing isn't it.
The world and its wife knew it would happen, ( inc the CMO and Sage. ) But somehow it slipped the mind of Johnson. |

Has intervention after intervention. Been locked down. Not seen relatives for months. Worn masks for months. Record death numbers. Seems we humans cannot beat nature.

The numbers were going down with November semi lockdown.
The government had already been told that tier 1 and 2 were not fit for purpose. What exactly did UK gain by December 2nd return to a failed tier system. UK was moving in the right direction with a vaccine around the corner. Then PM decided his backbenchers and online school dropouts knew more about Covid than the scientists. Is going be weeks before we even get down to 20,000 cases a day. Long time since Boris made fun of Labour for suggesting SAGE know what they are talking about when cases had increased to 5000. UK will have another 40,000 deaths and over 100,000 needing hospital treatment before this is over. Still hope we don't have to wear a face covering for 20 minutes. |

All been predicted for months and months by ordinary people on this forum.
They have taken plenty of abuse, ridicule and derision from those who 'knew better'. So the question has to be asked Who and what have this Tory government been protecting because it certainly is'int the citizens of the UK.That is so plain to see. |

You're right pecker. Various forms of tiers and lockdowns, ruined lives for millions, debt created for generations, and the winter annual respiratory deaths have still happened.
|
|
By:
As expected - lockdowns, masks, restrictions - don't work.
All you can do is wash your hands - if it's going to get you it's going to get you. |

Pecker
More to the point they are not protecting the economy , children at school ,airlines, , Christmas. They were all supposed to be the reason we had to open up for a few days in December & why didn't have a short circuit breaker. Boris shouldn't listen to potential voters who are online school dropouts with shiny hats. |
|
By:
Cider, glad to see you realise how horrific this tory government have been.

By:
The lockdowns have failed.
It doesnt matter which area of the UK you look at things got worse in December regardless of lockdowns. Look at Scotland and Wales as well. Its sad but the reality is all the interventions do is delay the pain concentrate more cases on the NHS all at once rather than let is slowly spread all year in the young and fit. |

The lockdowns reduced cases, reduced hospital admissions & reduced deaths. The disaster was the tier system and not bothering to enforce any rules. |

How many people are dying per week as a consequence of lockdown and fear (not covid)? |
|
By:
We have normal respiratory deaths + lockdown/fear deaths (plus abandoned treatments)

Nearly 1000 per week ave been dying at home, more than usual. For months. Nearly every other reported illness has fewer recorded deaths than usual. These are ONS statistics.
|
|
By:
Plus, of course, excess deaths are compared to years without covid. The human race has a new disease, which isn't included in the benchmark (obvious, but never mentioned)

Its sad but the reality is all the interventions do is delay the pain concentrate more cases on the NHS all at once rather than let is slowly spread all year in the young and fit. utter fantasy there are about 20m people in higher risk groups, comprised of aged 60+, high blood pressure, diabetics, other ailments. It is utterly impossible to shelter them. I'm over 60 in good health and an online vaccine calculator says that there are 17m-20m people in the queue in front of me. Herd immunity is simply right wing code for let's "kill off the weak". I don't know why you keep pretending it's anything else. |
|
By:
But, dave. What difference would lockdown or no lockdown mean for you? If you want to hide at home, it doesn't need to be compelled in law, enforced on the people that don't.
|
|
By:
Yep, this here is their idea of "let it slowly spread".
Little clue, you can't slowly let a virus spread. You can't talk it into doing that. You either control it or you don't. This is what happens when you don't. We have thousands dying a day, we have ICU's completely full and now face the very real possibility of people having heart attacks, falls or car accidents dying because there are no beds or doctors left to treat them. But they knew this all along, and don't care about anyone but themselves and are happy to take their chances that that fate doesn't befall them. |
|
By:
Lockdown works because it reduced cases?
But lockdown does not work because it is not enforced? What one is it? |
|
By:
Lockdown just makes people who are scared feel better. Feel better that the whole country is punished but it doesn't change their life.
