I just watched the Welsh bloke too.
Seems far more measured, but then they have limited powers and can only mitigate the disaster caused by Johnson and Cummings. |

starmer polling well enough but the labour party in general still is not. very few would change their vote from last december
By:
It's early days. Starmer, as you say, polling very strongly and he has stopped the rot which was priority one. Now he is in the process of clearing out the unelectables both in the cabinet and elsewhere. At least for now, he has managed to get back in the shake up and has done a good job so far.

If he wants to get his ratings up, he would be well advised to look at the approach Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish government took to Covid. They were ultra cautious, kept everyone fully informed of their plan on a daily basis and are reaping the rewards now.--- Well in my experience the majority of the people I meet in Scotland are very frustrated. Mind you these are the ones that work for a living so you may be right. We will see where she is in 6 months when the economy here hits a brick wall (if it hasn't already).

Why not take her ratings as they are now rather than hope and be a guesser that they go down in the future?

No I'm not disagreeing with you, just a little surprised from the interactions I have. I haven't got a clue how these polls are done.

That's in margin of error country now.
By:
I think that method must be a bit different during lockdown.
But havnt seen any decent articles on how polling companies are dealing with lockdown There could be errors either way that are being built in. |
By:
The main thing that has changed is that with Keir Starmer at the helm, Labour have stopped the rot. They will be happy for now that they are credible again. Boris hasn't done himself a great deal of good over the course of the pandemic and I suspect some of their current vote is shaky at best.
By:
Yeah, I meant different contacting the public.
I was out on Friday, wearing my face covering, heading for car park When a guy in one of those visor face shieldss stopped me to ask which company I bought my gas and electric from. Driving home I wondered what polling companies must be facing too. |

Some funny polling going on. |
By:
It's all in the same ball park ish. Covid is definitely having an effect on polling, some days are good for the government and others are stinkers. The polls will probably stay around this general mark for some time until Brexit details descend fully on us.

By:
starmer made a solid start but the labour party in general is still seen as toxic by the majority. not been much noticeable shift in policy from Corbyn yet
By:
I also think Starmer has got off to a good start, clearing out a lot of the extreme left from the Shadow Cabinet, NEC etc. He also has made good progress in tacking allegations of anti-semitism within the party. He has stopped the rot and that's a good achievement. His personal approval figures are excellent also. Closing the gap further and consistently is going to be tough for now at least.
By:
not checked the exact figures but you have to imagine most of the newly elected (not that there can have been that many given the rout) will be corbynistas given momentum's hold on the party machinery under corbyn. that's a problem he could do without
By:
That 6% bnp vote that tories have picked up won't go to Labour, ever.
By:
I don't think that's the case. Remember, Corbyn only scraped into the vote for leadership via the Parliamentary party with five minutes to go to achieve the minimum required which I think was forty MPs.
By:
That post of mine was to mafeking.
By:
There are plenty of areas anyway where corbyn remains popular.
Starmer needs to hold that support whilst silencing it's speakers. No point taking votes off tories if you are haemorrhaging support out the back. |
By:
Absolutely.
