9's now. Guardian says he is surging. Only a few days to go excellent time to gain momentum. There are a large proportion of undecided and apathetic voters. And this guy is a hack of a performer. Heading for a million youtube views for his performance in Marseilles on Sunday.
Apparently the leaders both loosing voters to him. Guardian says he cold be amongst the 3 on 20%. Threatening to unite the left. He is the opposite of Corbyn in style. Take note Labour. This is how you could do it. Have we got any oratators like this? |
|
By:
I put a saver on him at 28's, five days ago. Not value at 11, imo.

Sorry, that was on Melenchon on his own. Not Melenchon/Le Pen.

I backed both Hamon and Melenchon as a "left ticked" at the beginning of March hoping one would drop out and allow the left vote to unite (expected Melenchon to drop out). The two debates allowed Melenchon to shine and he's bled Hamon down to 8% from 12%, Melenchon going from 13% to 18/19%.
So the easy bit is over, he now need to bite into Marcon share of the Socialist support, and a little of Le Pen disillusioned youth and blue collar workers, which won't be easy but is possible. The other dynamic is for core Hamon supporters to decide that on the first round vote their Hamon Vote would be wasted and a vote for Melenchon would at least allow the left into the final knockout contest after the first round. On that front earlier today, the first elected socialist - Jean-Yves Lalanne, Mayor of Billère - has called for the withdrawal of the socialist candidate Benoît Hamon in favor of Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Things could yet get interesting....... |

I could lay off at 7.6. Wish I had put more on.
Mind you then last time I "put more on " I got badly burnt. This guy is a major major major showman. He is campaigning by hologram. I love love love it. I hope he does more. Soon they will all be it. But very very few politicians have Melechons showmanship, intelligence and retorical skills. A left wing Trump with brains skills and a lefty. he is calling for a EU referendum in France. But but but he is really campaigning for EU Reform absolutely music to my ears. That as a Yanis Varoufakis fan is precisely were I stand. The hologram show.Soon to be 700k views. Is he the most social media savvy politicians .......ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlnQ801wWf4 |

Soon they will all be at it. Invest in holograms.
|
|
By:
He can`t negotiate reforms within the EU and he won`t offer a referendum for France with the possibility of leaving the EU.
Not as social media savvy as Hitler, not even close. |
|
By:
Hitler WTF????????
Whatever. He is very entertaining and amusing. Never mind the above. What is it with people bringing that name to the forum. It just creates insanity. And immediately stops rational communication. |
|
By:
He`s too old and dishonest, the world has moved on and left these aging leftists and communists behind.
|
|
By:
If Melanchon does well, but not well enough, this could be good for Le Pen with some of the same voters who backed Malanchon voting for her in the 2nd round
Especially if he is thought to be in favour of a referendum on Europe. |
|
By:
What an awful choice if Le Pen and Melanchon are in the run off. I would refuse to vote at all given those to choose from.
|
|
By:
Hitler was the first politician to campaign for votes by aircraft .
|
|
By:
In fact sage firm that is a real problem in France with a surprisingly large number who might do that and not vote for non of the candidates , these are the ones that le pen must gather.

Macron is the same as usual almost Blairite-Clintonite establishment.
Fillone seems to be as corrupt as fk and my man Melenchone seems to have him beat on the left So the question is whether anti-establishment rage is there to a winning extent or not or not. If it is it can go to the right, as it seems to be in many places. Or it can go to the left and Melenchone; according to reports; is having an impact. He is massive on youtube and facebook as I have pointed out. (Dead evil dictators from the last century may be doing better. So effin what) That's the situation as i understand it and the Machrone-Le pen odds have come in from 11's to 7.6 ( out from 7.4). |

Do not be concerned with dead evil dictators from the last century, there are many more alive and in power today .
Take a look around, that's how things look in our world . no no I'm not telling lies. |

And Turkey is the latest depressing example of how quickly a thriving economy with an apparently healthy democracy can fall back into tyranny.

For those reading this thread its not about evil dictators. If you skip those bits you will find info that may help you have a flutter on Melenchon or even pirk up an interesting in a possible left wing contender for French President and an entertaining character to boot.

The problem in France and in Britain etc is an anti establishment vote cannot be left wing . Voting for any of the leftists is merely a continuation of the failed policies of the last decades.
An anti establishment vote must be a vote for the new radical right wing policies needed in France and in every European country. |
|
By:
an anti establishment vote cannot be left wing
Thats a very provocative assertion. So the Bolsheviks who were so anti-establishment that they murdered the Tsar and all his family were actually right wing according to you. I don't know how we ever ever communicate if you want to make your own language up to this extent. |

I have got myself suckered into an absurd dialogue. Sorry. |

By:
it is the situation in France and the western countries today that I am talking about.
If you want to vote against the establishment in France then you should not vote for any of the leftist candidates. Try and keep up melv I am not bothered about what happened in Russia 100 years ago, but we should learn from it. |

Since the 1980's the supposed left have been hijacked by neo-liberalism and the worship of the market. It's only since the crash that a real left alternative has emerged to challenge the Alt-right xenophobic outlook. Interestingly enough both propose an expansionist state to invest in infrastructure and provide investment to boost industry.
It's the social side where they so greatly differ. |
|
By:
it has been a problem to explain to the leftists that protecting and cherishing your own country and culture and way of life is not xenophobic, this is what they don't understand and why they are so dangerous.
|
|
By:
Meleanchon supporters cleaerly see Melenchon as anti-establishment as Trump or Farage.
For this reason they have a joke slogan. " CAN'T STENCHON THE MÉLENCHON" |

Melenchon is a fierce patriot. |

I disagree.

It does not often occur that I can refute an assertion on here with empirical evidence. But .....can I have a drum roll...........
See for yourself a veritable sea of tricolours at Melenchons rally in Marseilles. half a million hits in less than a week. You do of course know that the Frech national anthem is the Marseillaise. Nobody is entitled to the opinion that Melenchon and his supporters are not patriotic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrjWwsV4zS4 |

Yes that's lovely music, but when the notes stop everything goes back to normal .

So how did the glorious 1917 turn out. Creation of probably the most 'establishment' system ever, once the decks had been cleared by Stalin just a few years later. Much to my great sadness. Not that we helped much by invading the USSR along with the rest of the anti revolutionary countries.
|

By:
Er Ifc I am waiting; in the light of the evidence of a sea of tricolours; your retraction of your the assertion that Melenchon is not a patriot.

Just in case anyone missed it in the sea of nonsense that this thread is being drowned in. I presumed by English Le Pen fans.
